Nicklas Ulander Level 1 (15 points) Q: Problem with file sharing on 10.6 server to SMB HiI have problems with a 10.6 server connected to our AD as a Domain Member.I have set up users and groups from the AD in the file-sharing, and if I connect to the server with my AD account on a Mac it works flawless. The share mounts and I have all the right privileges. If I try to connect from a PC I cant log in and the SMB log says as follow:[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/smbd/sesssetup.c:setupnew_vcsession(1273) setupnew_vcsession: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources.[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/lib/module.c:dosmb_loadmodule(64) Module '/usr/lib/samba/auth/odsam.dylib' loaded[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/smbd/sesssetup.c:setupnew_vcsession(1273) setupnew_vcsession: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources.[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/auth/auth.c:checkntlmpassword(319) checkntlmpassword: Authentication for user [] -> [] FAILED with error NTSTATUS_NO_SUCHUSER[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/smbd/sesssetup.c:setupnew_vcsession(1273) setupnew_vcsession: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources.[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 2, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/smbd/sesssetup.c:setupnew_vcsession(1273) setupnew_vcsession: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources.[2011/02/01 15:40:25, 0, pid=10854] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.5/samba/source/lib/opendirectory.c:getopendirectoryauthenticator(247) failed t
a Power Mac with Snow Leopard Server on a Windows Domain. Connecting from another Mac is trivial. But try and connect from a windows 7 desktop by browsing the network or searching by NetBios name or IP address keeps coming up with: error code: 0x80070035 network path not found. Even though the server is on the network and is pingable, and is properly attached to Active Directory, the Windows computer can't find the server... Ok, now I was able to find the server by https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2740245?start=0&tstart=0 using it's IP address in the run search box (not via Windows Explorer - which lists the server on the network, but can't find it when you double click the entry), but cannot authenticate. The Samba access logs say: [user] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD, even though I use my domain login when the login prompt appears. Solved:I typed in the FQDN when using http://musingsofanitjedi.blogspot.com/2011/10/accessing-samba-share-on-os-x-server.html Windows Explorer to map the network drive, e.g. \\publicserv..lcl\publicdir, and Windows 7 desktops finally can find the Samba server. Don't ask me why, but the has to be in all caps, even though on all the Windows machines, the domain is in lowercase. Since I could get neither Lighttpd nor Apache to run, I tried Samba. After creating this simple /tmp/smb.conf (in /tmp because the Samba directory is read-only)... Code: [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP ;commented by me to investigate ;encrypt passwords = yes win
