Each line in Excel contains details of the individual GRN for up to three order lines. The macro should then take this data and create an appropriate XML file. I was getting a loop error, but after some digging on this site I resolved that, but now I am getting an overflow error. Can someone please have a look at my code and let me know where I am going wrong? Code: Sub GenerateXML() ' Dim intRowS As Integer, intRowC As Integer, intRowC2 As Integer, intRowD As Integer Dim strTab As String, strTab2 As String, tempco As String intRowS = 10 'row count on DataEntry Sheet intRowC = 3 'row count on GenCode Sheet intRowC2 = 3 intRowS2 = 6 intRowS3 = 5 intRowS4 = 4 intRowS5 = 3 strTab = "GenCode" strTab2 = "DataEntry" tempco = "" 'codes to check for special characters Worksheets(strTab2).Range("A10", "Y1100").Replace What:="&", Replacement:="&", SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, MatchCase:=True Worksheets(strTab2).Range("A10", "Y1100").Replace What:="'", Replacement:="'", SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, MatchCase:=True Worksheets(strTab2).Range("A10", "Y1100").Replace What:="""", Replacement:=""", SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, MatchCase:=True Worksheets(strTab2).Range("A10", "Y1100").Replace What:="<", Replacement:="<", SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, MatchCase:=True Worksheets(strTab2).Range("A10", "Y1100").Replace What:=">", Replacement:=">", SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, MatchCase:=True Sheets(strTab).Select Cells.Select Selection.ClearContents Worksheets(strTab).Cells(1, 1) = "" Worksheets(strTab).Cell

"Overflow" error P: n/a SheldonMopes I sometimes get a pop-up box that reads "Overflow" and the https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/472271-overflow-error module that is executing pauses. It doesn't get caught by my error trapping, and it http://www.globaliconnect.com/excel/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=348:excel-vba-errors-error-handling-on-error-resume-satements-exit-statement-err-object&catid=79&Itemid=475 seems to be randow. By random, I mean usually in the same section of code, but I can run the code a few times, then it appears. I can't reproduce it when I want to, and I have no idea what is causing it. Any ideas ? Thanks By the way the code is some record manipulation of 2 recordsets. overflow error Mar 24 '06 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 3 Replies P: n/a Allen Browne Overflow means that the data is too large for the data type that is trying to handle it. Open the Immediate Window (Ctrl+G), and enter: ? 200 * 200 The default number type in Access is Integer, and the largest integer is 32767. Therefore this simple calculation fails with an Overflow error. The solution is to force one of the overflow error vba numbers to be a Long integer, e.g.: ? CLng(200) * 200 Your calculations may therefore need typecasting to a Long, Double, or Currency, using CLng(), CDbl(), or CCur(). Note that these types do not handle Null, so you usually need to use Nz() inside those expressions too, e.g.: CCur(Nz([Quantity],0)) * [PriceEach] More info: Calculated fields misinterpreted at: http://allenbrowne.com/ser-45.html -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. Errors & Error Handling, On Error & Resume Satements, Exit Statement, Err Object ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contents: VBA Erros & Error Handling Error Handling Setting, in VBE Error Handler On Error Statements Using an Exit Statement Error Handling in Nested Procedures & The Resume Statement Get Information from the Error Object Raise Method of the Err Object: Generate a Run-time error ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Handling determines what is to be done next on the occurrence of an error. On encountering a run-time error, an On Error statement enables or disables an error-handling routine within a procedure. A Resume statement can only be used in an error-handling routine - it resumes execution at a sepcified point after the error-handline routine finishes. You can get information on the error from the properties of the Error object - this object is the Err Object. In this section, we cover: VBA Erros & Error Handling In vba programming you can have Syntax Errors or Run-time Errors. An error handler determines what action is to be taken within a procedure, on the occurrence of a run-time error. A syntax error occurs when you enter a line of code which is not allowed or recognized by Visual Basic. You will encounter a syntax error on misspelling a keyword or a named argument, for incorrect punctuation (ex. not specifying a comma as a placeholder for the omitted argument), use an undefined procedure, and so on. These errors are easier to locate as the Code Editor points them out at the time you are writing your code. A run-time error occurs at the time during which your code is running, that is after you have created your macro. There could be an error in your programming due to incorrect logic used in your code that prevents it from doing what you intended and may stop code execution, for example, if your code attempts to divide a value by zero. Another reason for an error which may cause even a valid code to crash could be a condition not being met, say, a reference to a worksheet in your code which has been deleted by the user. Other examples when a run-time error can occur are: on using incorrect variable names or variabl
