You could fix this by just replacing that board. Try to place it in standby mode first by unplugging it, wait a couple of minutes and then plug it back in. When the 000000's starts, hold down the power button for 15-20seconds. The unit should then be in standby mode. From this mode try to start it normally using the power button and see if it cleared the error. You could also try a complete reset by powering the unit off and press and hold the "Stop" and "Channel Up" buttons at the same time for a few seconds while powerin

I came back from holiday the other day to find my machine displaying U81 and having not recorded a single panasonic dmr item that I had set it for! Panasonic tech support just gave me the usual response - but I don't really want to send it away if its something simple. Why won't they just say what the error code actually means? Thanks in advance! On the Web I gathered others (with this and other Panasonic machines) have found U80 shutting off the digital channels and the immediate answer is to switch off and on again. It resumes after half a minute or so although the screen suggests a 10 minute wait - counting down. The answer given on a forum was that it was to do with the number of digital channels available (an 'overload' ensues - no, I don't understand it either) that there is a 'fix' Panasonic can do if the machine is taken in to a service centre. I have 2 machines and one has an aerial which brings in few stations - never seen U80 on this one!Why the secrecy at Panasonic? Cost of the 'fix' perhaps?does anyone know anything about this, please?Otherwise I am very happy with the machine's quality - fine- editing, copy lists, timer recording with machine on or off and not influenced by a powercut. Don't like the Region 2 coding - a rip-off! The
