Panasonic Dmr Ez48v Troubleshooting
I turn it on now, it makes a sound like it's repeatedly trying to read a disc (even if there is no disc in it), the sounds being 1-3 seconds apart. When I have tried each of a couple discs in it, it makes the same sound, and then the window on the front rapidly says: "NO" and then "READ" over and over again. I've turned it panasonic dmr es35v manual off, and I've unplugged it...and it still does the same thing. We only had the product a year or two, and I use it to record maybe 2-3 shows per week on average. I'm really hoping you have some recommendations, as I'd really hope a product this expensive would last longer. Thanks for any help you can offer!! John Submitted: 4 years ago. My Panasonic locked up on me too, the DVD drive was slapping and clunking. Then I reset it.Seems to function, but it's my Test player in my truck. I went and got one with netflix.Reset your player. Ask Your Own TV Question Customer: replied4 years ago. Thanks for the idea! I gave it a try three times, and it did indeed reset. Unfortunately, it didn't correct the problem, and it still says "NO" & "READ" blinking back and forth. To be more specific on the sounds (if it matters) that accompany those words, the pattern is that it makes 4 higher pitch sounds (about a second apart), followed by a single lower pitched sound.Any ideas for what I can try next...please?John Expert: TV Tech1 replied4 years ago

I purchased a Panasonic DMRES35V in 2006 and it played well until http://www.justanswer.com/tv-repair/6h7dk-panasonic-dmr-ez47v-dvd-recorder-says-no-read.html I tried to transfer an old favourite VHS casette over to DVD format this week. Initially I put a CD-RW disk in, which may have caused the problem, and then a DVD-R and then a DVD +R blank disk. I encountered a U88 error and tried to sort this out through the manual, what a joke. I then placed a new DVD-R disk into the machine and then accessed the DVD menue [for the last time it appeared] and was http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/288758-Panasonic-DMR-ES35V-DVD-NoRead-repair asked to 'format' the disk for recording. This failed and the end result was that I can no longer access the DVD drive, to record or play, and the DVD menu does not come up when DVD functions are selected from the hand controller. The only menu accessable is the VHS menu. The VHS drive works fine. I have read a lot about drive failures in this model, DMRES35V, on this and other sites and am surprised that Panasonic continues to produce machines like the current DMREX47V I purchased, unaware of the DVD drive issues, which seems to have the same drive unit? Anyway I came across an article in this forum which indicates that it might be the 'laser' which has failed in the DVD drive unit. Also one forum list on this site considered replacing the DVD drive with a PC DVD+/-RW drive in a similar JVC unit? Can anyone help. I am a retired electronics technician and could disassemble the DVD unit and make repairs/replace it if possibe. A quote from Panasonic, Australia, was $352AUD to replace the DVD drive in the DMRES35V, and the new unit, the DMREZ47V, cost $425. I recorded one 4 hour show. I was leaving my house and started recording a second 4 hour show the next day. I got home about 4 and a half hours later. The recorder looked like it was finished. I went to finalize it. To do so, all I have to do is push the open/close button. But when I pushed the button, the disc drawer just opened. I then pulled the disc out and noticed that it only recorded about 2 hours worth. It didn't ask me about finalizing the disc. I put the disc back in and it started making a weird noise, Like the lazor turns on then off and back on and off. It does this for about 5 times. Then a message comes on the player that says "NO READ." 4 times I put another blank disc in with the same thing. I then put a dvd in that I've watched on the player several times with the same result, NO READ. Does anyone know what's wrong with it and how to fix it? Thanks 11-01-09, 11:37 PM #2 Spiky DVD Talk Limited Edition Join Date: Mar 2002 Location: Mpls, MN Posts: 6,831 Re: Panasonic DMR-EZ27 No Read Problem Well, sounds like it broke. You've had it awhile? They usually aren't worth fixing unless the warranty is still good. __________________ Ignorance vs Bliss --Wizdar 11-02-09, 03:38 PM #3 darkhawk DVD Talk Platinum Edition Join Date: Ja
