That marker is either missing or is in the wrong place. A crash is the most common cause, however a disk error or corrupt file can also cause this.++Solutions: Recovering the file frequently fixes the problem. If it does not, make a clone of a backup, open the clone and try to import from the file that is giving the -39 error message.++In other applications, using an Import or Insert command from inside a new document frequently works around the problem. This may occur in sessions created without Mac/PC compatibility engaged that have been copied from a Mac OS X machine to a drive formatted FAT 32 (MS-DOS) and then back to the Macintosh hard drive. Copying a session that does not have Mac/PC compatibility enabled onto a non-Macintosh formatted hard drive drive strips the resource fork from the session file. The file will be missing vital data that can only be recovered by going back to the original session file before it was copied to the drive.
