Rob Garrott Level 1 (5 points) Q: Windows 7 Quicktime error -43 Hi, I have a clean install of Wn7 with an SSD system drive, and an internal Raid composed of 4 spinning drives set at raid quicktime error 1856 windows 7 level 5.When I try to play a QT off of the raid I get this error message:Error quicktime error 2048 -43: a file could not be found (xxx) XXX = the name of the movie I was trying to play.I've done a web search and quicktime error 50 can't find any reference to this error. Has anyone else found this problem? The only way I can play back a movie is to copy it to the system drive.Thanks Posted on Jul 11, 2013 7:09 PM I have this question

I did a search in the QT discussion area for "Quicktime Error -43" and this article never came up!!! It was exactly the fix. My drive was A: so I changed it to R: for Raid and QT works again. Now if I can get the Gamma shift on export problem fixed, then it will be completely usable. found a couple of good threads on the problem but none has the solution so far. Thanks again! error while backing up of your Mac system using Time Machine: “Error -43: a file could not be found” Cause of the Error The error occurs because Time Machine is unable to locate the Time Machine drive. The following reasons may prevent Time Machine from locating the Time Machine hard drive: Time machine settings are not pointing to correct external drive. Time Machine preference files are corrupt. Time Machine drive is corrupt. Solution The following fixes may help you in resolving the above error: Reselect your backup drive To reselect the Time Machine drive, first remove the selected backup drive from Time Machine system Preferences and turn off the Time Machine. Now, turn the Time Machine on and reselect the Time Machine drive. Remove the Time Machine preferences In case the Time Machine preferences file is corrupt, Time Machine may be unable to locate the backup drive. The Time Machine preferences are saved as com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and are typically located in the /Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/ folder. Repair the Time Machine drive If your Time Machine drive is corrupt, Time Machine will not be able to work properly. Use the Disk Utility or a reliable third-party Disk Maintenance tool for Mac computers to repair the faulty drive. In case the Time Machine drive is damaged beyond repair, then format your Time Machine drive to resolve the issue. Error 43 when using QuickTime The following error is generated when QuickTime is unable to locate the file you are trying to open: “Error -43: a file could not be found” Cause Generally, the error occurs when QuickTime is unable to recognize the drive on which the file you are trying to access is saved. Solution Open the disk management and check whether the drive on which the file is saved is named correctly or not. If the drive is named incorrectly then QuickTime will not be able to access the files saved on it. For instance, if your F: drive is named twice, as (F:) (F:), QuickTime will not be able to recognize the F drive; thus, will not be able to play files stored on this drive. To rectify the issue, change the name of the drive to correct format, which in this instance means you will need to change it to a single (F:).
