I actually put my system to sleep overnight, and when I woke it this morning all of the files opened in Quicktime normally. That was strange. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement Snowmanrd Thread Starter Joined: Jan 19, 2009 Messages: 1 I had videos on my pc which were in quicktime. I thought I would make a DVD so I was using slideshow assistant (Roxio), and it was giving me some error saying it could not support and I may have to install additional software.... something like that. Anyways, I go back to the folder with the video in it, and thought maybe I needed to "open with" a different program, so I selected "roxio". Then next time I opened the slide assistant and 'add movie', https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1871557?tstart=0 I got an error message saying "Error - 36: an I/O error occurred". Also, the other videos in the same folder, I could still see the beginning of the video in thumbnails, but this video I wanted was crossed out like when you see a no smoking sign and the red circle with the line across it. OMG, did I lose my video? I knew I had the video on my flash drive too but when I tried to open it from that device, I got the https://forums.techguy.org/threads/quicktime-error-36-an-i-o-error-occurred.792072/ same error! Could someone please help me????? Snowmanrd, Jan 19, 2009 #1 DerekC Joined: Jan 10, 2005 Messages: 1,705 When you choose "open with" there is normally a check box for "always use this program". Do you recall if you unchecked it? Have you gone back through and changed the "open with" back to quicktime? VIEW ALL • PRINT • NEXT >> • Quicktime error -36 files wont copy please help !!!! by Andrew Pulaski on Apr 10, 2009 at 6:45:12 pm Hey guys well ive https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1031281 been struggling with this problem for quite sometime now... i have a dvcpro hd 720p24 project with a capture scratch with all converted p2 media that was loaded with final cuts log and transfer tool... the project runs smoothly and cuts well. after the job is done i backup up the project to dvd+dl archives with toast. I get a wierd error -36 while burning or copying quicktime error files to another hard drive and it gives me the name of the file it cant copy. everytime it relates to a quicktime file in my capture scratch... its usually random but ive noticed its mostly on larger quicktime p2 clips. Ive tried to change the permission properties of the file, reexport the file using quicktime to get it into another shell and i still have had quicktime error an no luck... i have a feeling it has to do the headers of the file whether it be from curruption from the p2 card itself or just the process of log and transfer... if anyone is out there that has this issue... i mean i saew a couple posts on here already that some people said try to change permissions but that does nothing for me... ive called panasonic and they tell me i should have transcoded on the load to prores which is not ideal for me at the moment in time... all in all i know i can try and rebatch this file if i had the original p2 media but i do not.. please help!!!!!!! ps i believe -36 = i/o error which m not sure how this effects the clip or if it is repairable or whatever it means.Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: Quicktime error -36 files wont copy please help !!!!by Joel Peregrine on Apr 11, 2009 at 2:53:42 amHi Andrew, I feel your pain.
