My problem is I was setting up the system and i get the following error message "This portion remote desktop activex control c# of the REmote Web Workplace requires the microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX control. Your browser's security settings may be preventing you from downloading ActiveX controls. Adjust these settings, and try to connect again." https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/951607 So it seems simple, manage add-ons and enable remote desktop. The problem comes up in that there is no add-on menu that has anything to do with remote desktop, terminal services, etc. Its a brand new laptop, xp sp3, pristine, just office 2007 installed. I have no idea why its doing this. So far i've tried the following: -setting the IE settings to https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/29890-fixed-remote-desktop-activex-control low -adding the remote site as a trusted site -customizing the security settings to allow all the activex downloads -double checked user has remote access (I can use my computer to login and run the program for the user. Seems like it shouldn't be this complicated, but can't figure it out...help -raj Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: A way to tell when someone is using remote desktop on a pc remote desktop control remote desktop inacessible #2   3 Replies Sonora OP Raj5385 Dec 30, 2008 at 2:24 UTC FIXED! Ok, so It seemed too simple to work. I opened IE, Clicked Tools Clicked Advanced Clicked "reset" for resetting all Internet Explorer Settings. Somehow, the setting got stuck in there, and no matter what, wouldn't change. This allowed me to put everything to default, and then deal with the popup when it came. When it popped up, I accepted and it installed the activeX control properly. Since i answered my own question, can i give myself the best response? Aug 26, 2003 Messages: 79 This is my week for computer problems. I will post good news sometime. I promise. (For example, glc I built that media PC you recommended. It rocks!) The HP Support Team has booted me to the curb calling it http://forum.pcmech.com/threads/error-message-remote-desktop-activex-control.204454/ a Windows problem. I come to you wise folks for some much needed advice in my WHS https://support.mozilla.org/questions/682975 installation. First off, some basic info. I just recently acquired the HP MediaSmart Server EX470. I want to install the server software on my laptop PC, desktop PC, and media PC. All of them are using XP, SP3 as an OS. (Desktop is XP Pro, others Home.) So far, the software installation has worked on the laptop PC (with some editing of the Host file). I am remote desktop able to install the software on the desktop PC. However, when I go to log into the Windows Home Server Console from my desktop, I get the following error message. "An error occurred in the Remote Desktop ActiveX control installed on your computer". Now, I can get on the server to see my files and what not, but when I go to make any administrative changes from the desktop (e.g. connector update), I get that error message. Any ideas? As mentioned before, HP customer remote desktop activex support didn't have any ideas and told me it was a Windows problem. Here's what I've tried doing so far. I reset Explorer 7.0. That didn't work. I even REPAIRED XP. No dice. Still get the same error message. Would completely re-installing XP fix it? I'm hoping this is the last of it (for a while, at least). -B briley, Jan 7, 2009 #1 briley Joined: Aug 26, 2003 Messages: 79 Update: The We Got Served blog has this post. http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/2008/0...ate-breaks-windows-home-server-remote-access/ Not sure if this is the same problem I'm having. I tried hunting for the registry entries the article recommends, but I don't have them. briley, Jan 8, 2009 #2 briley Joined: Aug 26, 2003 Messages: 79 I figured out a fix for this. I bought a new hard drive and re-installed XP. It works like a dream now. briley, Jan 9, 2009 #3 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
