I have tried pressing f8, repair your computer then system restore however I keep getting the 0x8000ffff error. I have tried a few different restore points but still the same. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Matt. Unfortunately 0x8000fff is one of those errors with no defined roots, it crops up for all kinds of reasons and in all kinds of situations; most users never find what the actual problem was even once they've fixed it. I've just been frantically reading about this to try and find an easy solution but it seems there isn't one that I can copy/paste which will definitely sort it for you. All I can do is list some of the most common fixes. If you have the original Windows 7 disc (or a Startup Repair disc) then of course the first thing you can do is use this. Startup Repair Alternatively you could attempt starting in safe mode, and then run system restore. Safe Mode Last but not least (and far from easiest) is to image your system drive, which I've read can help two thirds of people afflicted with this problem (that information came from only one source and I'm not wholly ready to believe it). I'll be honest, I've done a system image but the following tutorial is comprehensive. System Image Recovery Note: It is an involved process and will take some time (s'why I've never done it!), as well as getting used to some things you've never done on a computer before.

System restore messed up my computer (Solved) Started by mldalton84 , Aug 20 2014 05:34 PM Windows 7 system restore Page 1 of 3 1 2 3 Next Please log in to reply #1 mldalton84 Posted 20 August 2014 - 05:34 PM mldalton84 Member Member 22 posts Hi, Sorry to mislead anyone, butI am very well aware that systemrestore didn't mess up my computer, it was user error, so please don't post any smart-alecky responses. I am a person in need of assistance, so please be nice. My HP which is running Windows 7 automatically downloaded updates last Wednesday and afterwards my Sims 2 game quit working. (It was showing a EULA problem-another issue for another post). In an attempt to correct the problem, I did a system restore to the previous date. I planned to reinstall the updates individually so I could see which one was causing the problem. Well...after windows completed the system restore, everything went to pot. My internet won't open a window nor will my Sims game open. The only files I can open are my documents. I tried to undo the system restore, I tried to undo it in safe mode, but now I'm getting an error stating that system restore could not complete. I'm terrified to try anything else ,and all of my research keeps suggesting I use the recovery
