I've searched all over the internet for a solution to my problem and have yet to find anything. Ok, install itunes I'll get started with my "simple" complaint. I cannot get iTunes to install or uninstall. It's getting rather frustrating. I've used things like Sharepod, which I find great and easy, but I can't get videos onto my iPod and

well...that's not cool. I'd like to use both Sharepod and then use iTunes to get my games onto my iPod. Alright here are my specs.I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-C290 running Windows Vista Home Premium. 2.00 GB RAM. It only has 87 GB of space, 18 which is free. But I use an external harddrive so most of my files are there. I have a 80GB iPod Classic. I don't know WHAT the deal is. I haven't used it

in the longest time. And then one day I click it to use and it starts installing [I didn't even know it wasn't installed?] and then I get this error EVERY time [even when uninstalling]It goes-Preparing to install.-Please wait while Windows configures iTunes.-Then a popup window states "The folder path "Whitney Lynn" contains an invalid character." and I click OK-Then it says "Fatal error during installation."So there is no installing. There is not uninstalling to try to reinstall. It's like I need to wipe my computer clean of everything to start new, which I am not against, I have the time and my external harddrive has almost everything important anyway. I'd fear I'd loose my Trend Micro but if anyone knows the correct way to get something from my computers harddrive to my external harddrive [dragging and dropping is not correct I've learned years ago HAHA] then let me know! If I need to wipe everything off my computer, please tell me how. Please, someone help! I'm rather frustrated. AND Whitney Lynn does NOT contain an invalid character, SPACES are not invalid characters so I don't know what it has stuck up it's computer butt! *sigh* Back to top #2 Tx Redneck Tx Redneck Tx Redneck- The Spam Hunter Anti-Spyware Brigade 5,353 posts Gender:Male Location:On the straight and narrow, stumbling at best, only by Gods grace. my computer. It seems that in order for me to open iTunes, I have to update my QuickTime. I can't uninstall (keep getting the itunes install error error msg.: "fatal error during installation" even though I am uninstalling). When I attempt to repair QuickTime and install iTunes, it runs through the installation process and suddenly the error msg. reads: "The installation of QuickTime did not complete https://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/topic/184174-cannot-install-or-uninstall-itunesquicktime/ successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime." What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do to correct this issue? Please be very basic with me... I am NOT computer savvy. Thank you in advance, QuitoBlue quitoblue, Jul 30, 2007 #1 Sponsor Auroramec Joined: Jul 30, 2007 Messages: 2 I had the same problem and i followed flavalle's directions and it worked: 1. Go to C:\Program Files, then delete the entire QuickTime folder. 2. Click Start https://forums.techguy.org/threads/quicktime-fatal-error.602617/ - Find/Search - All Files And Folders, select the hard drive ( C: ) to look in, type in QuickTime, then click Find/Search. when the list of files appear, right-click on and delete all the ones that you confirm are associated with QuickTime. 3. Click Start - Run, type in REGEDIT, then click OK. Click the + in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software In the Software sub-menu, right-click directly on the Apple Computer entry, then click Delete - Yes. (Note: If you click the + in the "Apple Computer" entry, you'll see "QuickTime" listed there) after this, just to make sure everything was gone, i went to control panel ->remove programs, and quick time still showed up, but when i clicked on uninstall, the fatal error message didn't show up anymore, and it was completely removed. I also deleted everything that has to do with apple, and ipod, itunes and all of that in the process. They also mentioned the program Ccleaner, which you can download from http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ after it is installed you go to "tools" and check if Quicktime is there, and try to uninstall it from there. not interested in having. I've been trying to figure out how to remove iTunes, iPod and Aple Mobile Device Support on and off now for the past http://blogs.msmvps.com/alunj/2007/12/17/removing-apple-mobile-device-support/ month, since it was accidentally installed while trying to update to the latest http://www.sorcim.com/knowledgebase/Error-1316.html safe version of QuickTime (which has since been patched again, and is therefore no longer the safe version of QuickTime - another reason why I wanted to revert to my original state before this month's update). I am, of course, using Windows Vista, so there's a good chance that Apple‘s technology the specified hasn't caught up with Vista. iTunes and the iPod service seemed to go easily enough - Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Select iTunes, and then press Uninstall. I'm left, though, with the "Apple Mobile Device Support", which is particularly insulting because I don't have any Apple Mobile Devices, so there's no reason why it should have ever installed in the first place. Every the specified account time I tried to Uninstall, it would prompt me for elevation, and then apparently uninstall, although there's no final dialog to say "Uninstalled - OK". But the icon and program name are still there in "Programs and Features", and the service itself is still present. I eventually spend a while watching the uninstall procedure, boring as it is to watch a progress bar that reads "11 seconds remaining" then "14 seconds remaining", etc, as progress bars tend to do. But then the progress bar does something magical - it goes backwards, and when it reaches zero, the uninstall program just quits. Surprisingly enough, this is good news. It means that rather than the uninstall procedure hitting a random crash and bombing out, it detected an error. Running EventVwr, I see: Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: Apple Mobile Device Support. Product Version: 1.1.2.23. Product Language: 1033. Removal success or error status: 1603. Well, no, Windows Installer didn't remove the product. To find out what error 1603 means, we can quickly run "net helpmsg 1603", to find that it means: C:\Program Files>net helpmsg 1603 Fatal error during installation. Great. That, we already knew.
