Windows 7: Windows DVD Maker unspecified error 12 Jan 2010 #1 CarlS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit 27 posts MN Windows http://forum.worldstart.com/showthread.php?t=156700 DVD Maker unspecified error Hi. I searched hi and and low and I don't see this problem. New PC, Windows 7 - just tried Windows DVD Maker. It worketh NOT. I add videos, all .wmv to start, and choose options, and say burn - it goes for about 1 to 2 % and quits. Says an error occured when burrning the DVD. It http://www.sevenforums.com/music-pictures-video/54857-windows-dvd-maker-unspecified-error.html never got to actually even spinning the DVD, it was just converting stuff. Seems a simple thing. How can it not work? Thanks. What's more confusing is that they're WMV, a native Microsoft compression format. Have you used menus or anything that might crash the process? Did you try burning any other kind of media with it? If not, I certainly suggest you try it out. I am using a Toshiba 350 (only 3 months old ) and Windows vista home premium I am unable to burn a windows movie https://windowsforum.com/threads/unable-to-burn-dvd.13197/ maker file. This is the 4th film I have made so I am familiar with the process. The others were O K I have tried different types of dvd, I have defragged,I have tried using different speeds I click on unspecified error 'burn ' and it starts to work then when it gets to 39% I get errror messages . I have had two different error messages , One says '' Cannot create the DVD unspecified error. '' The other one says '' Cannot create DVD Catastrophic failure '' Just to test the burner I did try burning a small unedited file and it worked OK. The project I am trying to save is approx 2 GB jojoally, Mar 19, windows dvd maker 2009 #1 jojoally Thread Starter Joined: Feb 2, 2009 Messages: 5 Just thought I would post what I discovered the hard way, just in case it helps anyone new users struggling with Windows Vista Movie maker (6) publishing and burning DVD. Like I was ! It was the size of the file that was the problem If you are making working on a project more than about 10 minutes , edit and publish Small sections separately then add them in to the DVD maker one at a time when you have finished . If you dont you may get the error messages I got - Cannot create DVD unspecified error Or Cannot create Catastrophic failure ALSO If you are editing a saved Movie maker file - If you are using title overlays , remove the title overlays FIRST , if you dont they are so small you may miss them and they may appear where you dont want them on the finished DVD. And Make sure there are no files hiding at the end of the Story board before you save or publish again. jojoally, Mar 24, 2009 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
