Script16389: Unspecified Error.
8 down vote favorite I'm getting 'unspecified error' when reading document.namespaces in IE. I can't seem to reproduce the problem in a standalone page, my snippet is: function addNamespace(key, value) { try { $("html").attr(key, value); if (document.namespaces && // This throws the error !document.namespaces[key]) { document.namespaces.add(key, value); } } catch (e) { alert("Error: " + e); } }; Never mind right now why I'm trying to add script16389 unspecified error jquery a namespace at runtime (it has to do with Facebook Like not working properly ... see this comment - Facebook like button showing in Firefox but not showing in IE). My question is simple - on what conditions does 'unspecified error' occur? jquery internet-explorer internet-explorer-8 share|improve this question edited Aug 9 '15 at 2:31 John 3,22232769 asked Oct 3 '11 at 10:23 ripper234 66.8k168464747 Which IE version used? –Andrew D. Oct 3 '11 at 11:22 @Andrew - I did say I failed to reproduce the issue in a standalone page. For some reason this happens on my full page though (can't link to it right now, sorry). –ripper234 Oct 3 '11 at 11:24 Which key|value you use: example? –Andrew D. However, when loading a very large set of hi-res (e.g. 3000px x 2500px) images, IE would output an error in the console: SCRIPT16389: unspecified error. The time that IE starts spitting http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7633722/what-does-unspecified-error-mean-in-ie out errors depends on the video card and amount of available GPU memory. On a system with nVidia GeForce 550 with 1GB dedicated memory, IE errors out at around 250 images. DETAILS ATTACH A FILE EDIT THIS ITEM Assign To Item can only be reassigned when it is active. In our testing this issue appears to be resolved in Windows 10 IE\MS Edge build 10240.Best regards,The IE\MS Edge Team Posted by dueni on 8/18/2015 at 2:00 PM We faced that SCRIPT16389: unspecified error as well on a page with just 4 PNG images, some of the images where not loaded. It turned out that on the Weblogic server of this https connection the mime-type mapping for PNG files was missing. Addin the png->image/png mime-mapping to web.xml fixed the problem. Hope this information helps someone else because I fixed that just on a best guess basis. Posted by v.chang on 6/18/2014 at 10:16 AM Tested IE DC released in June 2014 and IE loaded 219 images before it aborted the rest of the requests. Also, IE DC no longer output error in the console as seen in the attached screenshot. For now, our applications are targeting Chrome and Firefox before IE can fix this problem. Posted by v.chang on 9/24/2013 at 12:01 PM I have updated jsFiddle to fix the missing resource. Please use the following link:http://jsfiddle.net/xptX2/2/embedded/result/ Posted by Microsoft on 9/24/2013 at 11:19 AM Thank you for your feedback. " C:\users\"username"\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\content.ie5\"file name" unspecified error. " this is easily reproduced on my x64 computers not on my x86. I have been able to work aroundthis by either running IE as an administrator, or by choosing save script16389 unspecified error instead of run. rolling back to IE 8 will also solve the problem however I do not want to do this. I have scoured the net and found multiple others experiencing this issue with no working solutions presented. SOMEof the things attempted, reseting IE to default in the advanced tab of internet options. changing the temporary internet files location. verifying appdata redirection in group policy is not occuring (this is something we used in the past however has been disabled for some time). about internet explorer displays, version: 9.0.8112.16421 update versions: 9.0.11 (kb2761451) cipher strength: 256-bit Product ID: 03553-011-2333656-86029 thanks for your help and let me know if you need any other information. Posted: 29-Jan-2007 08:51 Reply I created a Bananalbum @ http://www.levinana.com/TAlbum/ and it seems to work well... however, once you try to download any image (via the download link at the bottom-left of the image)... any folder you open of other images will cause the following error from IE: Internet Explorer Cannot Download . Unspecified Error. I'm using the latest version of JAlbum (6.5.4) and BananAlbum (5.0) with Intenret Explorer 7. Any ideas? jGromit Posts: 30,991 Registered: 01/31/06 Re: Internet Explorer - Unspecified error? Posted: 29-Jan-2007 09:07 in response to: CLOSED_USER Reply I can confirm that behavior - the download works fine, but opening another folder gives that error window. I don't know what's causing it, but my IE7 is set up with default settings for almost everything (like security levels). I've never seen that error popup before, on any other site! banana Posts: 657 Registered: 10/23/03 Re: Internet Explorer - Unspecified error? There's no changes to the download feature whatsoever, so this is kind of strange. Maybe it has to do with wicked IE 7? Could you attach a screenshot of the error? jGromit Posts: 30,991 Registered: 01/31/06 Re: Internet Explorer - Unspecified error? Posted: 29-Jan-2007 10:04 in response to: banana Reply IEError.JPG (136,9 KB) You both activated 'direct download using php'? Where is this option? Could you attach a screenshot of the error? Done. To clarify, after launching the "show," I hit the download button for the first image. Whether I save to disk, open, or cancel the download, any subsequent click on another folder produces the error message shown in the attached screenshot. The download actually works, however! banana Posts: 657 Registered: 10/23/03 Re: Internet Explorer - Unspecified error?
