Ie11 Unspecified Error
a minute: Sign up What does 'unspecified error' mean in IE? up vote 8 down vote favorite I'm getting 'unspecified error' when reading document.namespaces in IE. I can't seem to reproduce the problem in a standalone page, my snippet is: function addNamespace(key, value) { try { $("html").attr(key, value); if (document.namespaces && // This throws the error !document.namespaces[key]) { document.namespaces.add(key, value); } } script16389: unspecified error. catch (e) { alert("Error: " + e); } }; Never mind right now why I'm trying to add a namespace at runtime (it has to do with Facebook Like not working properly ... see this comment - Facebook like button showing in Firefox but not showing in IE). My question is simple - on what conditions does 'unspecified error' occur? jquery internet-explorer internet-explorer-8 share|improve this question edited Aug 9 '15 at 2:31 John 3,23232769 asked Oct 3 '11 at 10:23 ripper234 66.8k168464748 Which IE version used? –Andrew D. Oct 3 '11 at 10:41 @Andrew - tagged IE 8. –ripper234 Oct 3 '11 at 11:09 In my test in IE8 standard mode all worked fine (but I use document.getElementsByTagName("html")[0].setAttribute("xmlns:"+key, value);). –Andrew D. Oct 3 '11 at 11:22 @Andrew - I did say I failed to reproduce the issue in a standalone page. For some reason this happens on my full page though (can't link to it right now, sorry). –ripper234 Oct 3 '11 at 11:24 Which key|value you use: example? –Andrew D. O

I can't debug as well since Internet Explorer's debugging tool is even slower than Eclipse which is quite an achievement.... Can anybody see what's causing the SCRIPT16389: Unspecified error. jquery.min.js, line 2 character 91826 error? jquery internet-explorer share|improve this question edited Jun 25 '15 at 3:04 asked Dec http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13912461/script16389-unspecified-error-jquery-min-js-line-2-character-91826 17 '12 at 10:35 bicycle 5,81443062 1 Errors in jquery.js are usually caused by incorrect usage of a jQuery function. Can you isolate when it happens? What does your page do when it turns up? –Pekka 웃 Dec 17 '12 at 10:38 @Pekka It however only shows in Internet Explorer... When the page is loaded various ajax calls are being made. Like $(document).ready(function() { $.ajax({type: "GET", url: "\/slider.php", }).done(function( html ) { $("#jui").html(html); if ($("#vpo").html().length == 0) activateSlider(); }); –bicycle Dec 17 '12 at 10:40 Strange... the only thing in your code that strikes me as odd is the backslash in the ajax URL, what's it doing there? Other than that, are you 100% sure $("#jui") and $("#vpo") exist? –Pekka 웃 Dec 17 '12 at 10:43 Yes they do. I have to put the backslash because otherwise '/slider.php' would give an error i think.... –bicycle Dec 17 '12 at 10:44 A backslash to escape a slash? I don't think you need that. Try removing it just in case... Other than that, the only idea that comes to me is to use alert()s instead of

Is there some sort of requirement to use .remove() or .detach() or .off() before the state switches? I found this stackoverflow link that says "Unspecified errors seem to occur when something (usually a value) isn't set or initialized correctly that the browser is attempting to use." http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7633722/what-does-unspecified-error-mean-in-ie Perhaps, the issue arises because the niceScrollbar directive is not used within templateUrl's associated with the other states (that I click to from /#/home/projects). I have created a plnkr here but it does not run because I have only included the relevant files. If there are additional files I can add to the plnkr to further clarify/detail my issues, please let me know: http://plnkr.co/edit/gMaqNoiHN6DfBaJjHe82?p=preview I am very grateful for any assistance you could provide.
