The application can connect read and write to the databaae but when I want to see the table data via Visual Database Tools. I get 'Unspecified Error'. I've increased the number of consurrent connections permitted but this makes no difference.I think it's to do with the drivers. I recently uninstalled SSEE 2005 and installed developer edition 2005. I then got the following error:Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of i

I'm new to MS web based programming and hardward/software so please keep this in mind. I'm hosting with webhost4life.com I was o their shared server then I went to a semi dedicated for speed and http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic416551-324-1.aspx custom options. Right around this time I started getting this error when i go to open any table useing MSSMSE (microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express) The customer support with the host are saying it is not them and they can access everything. but I have now installed SQLServer2005_SSMSEE On 1 xp hom 2 xp pro MCE 1 Vista https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/9f67773e-fbae-4722-bb45-0ca60f3be7b6/unspecified-error-ms-visual-database-tools?forum=sqltools Extream and they all have this problem. Every once and a while if i try New Query and then use the designer it will work to let me look at tables.... But many times it just times out after a long time. If i can get the query to work sometimes For that session I can then open tables, but it takes about 1-2 mintues before it starts pulling data from the table and then it is very very slow. Before this happened it used to pull data very fast about 10 times faster then now. I think it has to do with timeouts but I really don't know Please someone anyone help. I have tried taking my laptop to a different location (faster ISP) and same problem. my average download speed in 3-4 mbps and 600-900 kbps up. All computers are fully updated with automatic updates. numerous reports of this problem, while most of them ended up unanswered. The following is an answer I found from a MS person so I guess it's likely to be authentic. The answer is, no, you cannot open a 2008 table using the SSMS 2005. An alternative is to right click the table, and select 1. "script table as" 2. "select to" 3. "new query editor window" 4. Then a new query window, with the "select" statement populated, will appear. You can then simply click the "execute" button. This is of course not as good as the one right click and left click of the "open table", but probably the best available option. http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=335534 Comments Hi,
Thank you for reporting this problem. Currently one cannot use OpenTable functionality from SQL Server 2005 SSMS to connect to SQL Server 2008. The only workaround is to use SQL Server 2008 Tools to Design SQL Server 2008 Tables.
