Have you tried rebooting your system? –Greg Hewgill Aug 29 '13 at 5:38 @GregHewgill: Haven't rebooted since few days. Will do it right away. –Uchia Itachi Aug 29 '13 at 5:40 1 @GregHewgill: It worked out. Thanks, maybe if you post it as an answer it will be helpful for others too. –Uchia Itachi Aug 29 '13 at 5:58 Just wanted to say that this bug isn't specific to git and on bad days cygwin will crash on any executable in the same way for no apparent reason. –meneldal Jun 9 '15 at 5:22 add a comment| 11 Answers 11 active oldest votes up vote 174 down vote accepted Cygwin uses persistent shared memory sections, which can on occasion become corrupted. The symptom of this is that some Cygwin programs begin to fail, but other applications are unaffected. Since these shared memory sections are persistent, often a system reboot is needed to clear them out before the problem can be resolved. share|imp

An ODBC driver with PHP. I will in this article, describe how to build a simple PHP class, that connects through an odbc-driver to a database. The 3 main required methods are:. To create a connection to a database with ODBC, PHP supports the following method: “odbc connect”. The method has the following 4 parameters:. $dsn (string) – required. $user (string) – required. $password (string) – required. $cursor type – optional. A Prerequisite is that you have created an odbc datasource on the server (or your local machine). This is done in the “control panel” / “adminstration” / ”DataSources”. Posted in Tutorials No Comments ». I have lately been checking Git out, and must say that I am quite impressed with its versatitily. I am currently running on XP and have installed msysgit for accessing my newly created GitHub-account. Suddenly today when I tried to run Git Bash, I get the following error message:. 0 [main] us 0 init cheap: VirtualAlloc pointer is null, Win32 error 487 AllocationBase 0×0, BaseAddress 0×71540000, RegionSize 0x1C0000, State 0×10000 C: Git bin sh. exe: Couldn’t reserve space for cygwin’s heap, Win32 error 6. After a lot of googling and some tiny minor swearing I came to these findings:. This error is apparently caused by the way CygWin is installed into Windows, and there can not be done much about it. The issue concerns where the driver “msys-1.0. dll” is based into the running memory. If we face this error, then it means that the driver is allocated to the same memory address as some other running software. In my case, it was the Antivirus software that caused the conflict. If I shutdown my Antivirus and reboot, then everything works fine. We must all practice safe surfing, so no Antivirus is not a liable option. The current version of msysgit at the time of writing is 1.6.1. I then checked out an older version 1.5.6.1, but it the also spat the same error message at me. Finally it work for me with version 1.5.5, because “msys-1.0. dll” in that version is rebased to another memory address! The final solution that I use, is to install version 1.6.1 and then copy the file “msys-1.0. dll” for vers
