Stop Error 0a Windows 7
the day, etc.)so that i can "repair" the first 446 bytes of my MBR.(the partition table is intact and correct. The encrypted Windows partition, & the Linux partitionsare also intact)Thank you. Re: "SafeBoot has been corrupted (error 92h) gmoore7777 Nov 9, 2009 9:54 PM (in response to peter_eepc) I would be wary of mentioning that error code, since it didn't get that way from "normal"corruption methods. I caused it by stealing the first 446 bytes of some other machines MBRand plopped it down. Would the "normal" steps that McAfee would follow to fix the "error 92h"fix my artificially created situation? You know what I mean, Vern? Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. XenServer operating system installation or start-up, you receive the following error message: "ACPI: Assume safeboot has been corrupted error 92h dell root bridge." This causes the XenServer installation to fail. If XenServer is already installed, this causes the XenServer start-up to abort. XenServer error code 0x0000000a installation or start-up cannot be successful until Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) detection has been disabled from the kernel. Solution Complete the following steps to resolve the issue: Insert the XenServer installation CD and https://community.mcafee.com/thread/18803?start=0&tstart=0 start the installation process. When you get to the Welcome to XenServer screen, Press F1 or F2. This pauses the installation process. At the boot: prompt, type menu.c32. Move the cursor to the install boot menu option. Press Tab to edit settings. Insert the following string immediately after the string /boot/xen.gz and before the string watchdog: no-real-mode acpi=off The kernel should now boot with the parameters kernel: /boot/xen.gz http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX116617 no-real-mode acpi=off watchdog com1=115200.8n1 console=com1,tty Complete the installation process. After installing XenServer you might notice that, upon restarting the server you also encounter the ACPI errors. You must boot into XenServer through the Safe Mode and permanently disable ACPI detection. To do so, complete the following procedure. When you get to the Welcome to XenServer screen, Press F1 or F2. This pauses the installation process. At the boot: prompt, type safe and press Enter to start up in the Safe Mode. Notice that Safe Mode boots the kernel with the ACPI setting turned off. After starting the XenServer host, modify the boot loader file. The boot loader file (grub file) is located at /boot/grub/grub.conf (this is just a link) or /boot/grub/menu.lst (this is the actual file). Notice in the screen shot below that Safe Mode has ACPI detection turned to Off by default. Use this as a template to turn ACPI detection Off on the default boot. To verify ACPI is On, run #dmesg | grep acpi and notice that the command returns any ACPI settings currently in effect. See examples: [root@ftlchristophxen ~]# dmesg | grep acpi ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x01] lapic_id[0x00] enabled) ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x02] lapic_id[0x01] enabled) ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x03] lapic_id[0x05] disabled) ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x04] lapic_id[0x07] disabled) ACPI: LAPIC

So I ran disk utility, verify disk to see if anything was amiss. It was. But as it's my startup disk I couldn't repair it, so I tried safe mode. Safe mode worked the very first time, but when I rebooted it shows the progress bar filling up, before halting. Every time I turn it on now, the same progress bar then crash happens. Booting in verbose mode reveals safeboot has been fsck is failing with signal 8. Using single-user mode, as that's as far as I'm aware the only way I can get any access to the system, I've been running fsck_hfs. However, it always fails.
