In the process windows 7 usb hard drive of doing so, we discovered that if you go to Computer and double-click on a USB drive, we get
Windows 7 Usb Drive Edition
an error message saying "Application not available" and the drive letter, as in "F:\ - Application not available." Here is the strange part. If we right-click it and click open, the file http://answers.microsoft.com/message/18372d2f-71a5-4767-9ed1-8dbde1b33a67 list appears and we can use it as normal. The same is true if we click on the device under computer in the left pane. One suggestion I did find was to set AutoPlay for mixed content in Control Panel to Take No Action, but that did not work. I also tried it with Open Folder to View Files using Windows Explorer which also https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/383371-application-not-found-opening-usb-drive-on-windows-7-home-premium-x64 did not work. A very strange problem. Any thoughts are welcome. Method 1 (If autorun.inf file is present) Go to control panel then folder options. Press tab view and check view hidden files and folders. Then go to the device not opening and explore it. Look if you see autorun.inf and if present delete it. Then disconnect usb device from system and reconnect it. Method 2 (If autorun.inf file isn't present) Go to command prompt and write the following. attrib -s -r -h X:\autorun.inf press enter and then write del X:\autorun.inf press enter and after this disconnect usb deviceLikes Received: 0 Recently, I've been unable to access my F: drive. When I double click on the drive I get en error that says http://www.w7forums.com/threads/unable-to-open-f-drive-application-not-found-error.13079/ "Application Not Found". I can, however right click on the drive and open it that way, it's just extremely annoying. It doesn't matter what device is set as the F: drive, be it a UBS drive, a virtual drive, or a CD/DVD drive, it gives me the same error. At first I thought maybe there was something wrong with my USB drive, but if I use the same USB windows 7 drive as E:, G:, H: etc. it works perfectly fine. The problem seems to lie specifically with F: drive itself. I've run all my virus scans (Norton and Malwarebytes) as well as PC Tools Registry Mechanic and found nothing. I even restored my system to about a week ago with no results. Any help would be appreciated. Does it specify WHAT application is missing? Are you double clicking on this drive letter in Windows Explorer or in what product specifically? TrainableMan, Nov 22, 2011 #2 Advertisements JROC Joined: Nov 22, 2011 Messages: 3 Likes Received: 0 yes, the problem persists after rebooting, it does not specify the application, and yes im in windows explorer. I did come across something interesting though. I previously installed Flight Simulator X using either MagicISO or PowerISO as a virtual drive. At that time, I believe that I installed it using the F: drive as the virtual drive. Im going to attach a couple pics, one is of a USB drive as any random drive, and the other is a UBS drive as the F: drive. When I right click, my options are different. With the F: drive, the default action is "install or run a program from your media", as well as install direct X and install flight simulator. Could the fact that I installed flight simulator on the F: drive be messing it up? keep in mind all of my virtual dr
