Posts 3 BDE - Unable to merge new configuration. I get error message "Unable to merge new configuration. Use BDE Administrator to merge your new configuration.” during installation. I found a post on another forum that said: "I've got around the problem by changing the BDEConfig CA's conditions under which it will run. " My question is how do I modify the permissions or conditions of the BDE Merge Module so that I can control

how it runs? The error seems to be caused by the fact that during the BDE installation the module attempts to access or change the CFG file under the current user and it runs into permission problems. All I did was to change the Setup.exe 'Required Execution Level' to Administrator. From the Installation Designer click on Releases, then click on your release and go to the Setup.exe tab. There you will find the Require Execution Level. Change it from the default "Invoker" to "Administrator". not applicable There are two possible causes:There are old *.lck files in the shared network directory. The .NET bde install file is corrupt. To fix either, make sure all users, including yourself, are out of The database and Paradox. In Windows Explorer, browse to the shared network directory.Open https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?198326-BDE-Unable-to-merge-new-configuration the directory and check for the two files 'Paradox.lck' and 'Pdoxusrs.lck'. If either or both are present, delete them. Open the directory and check for the file 'Pdoxusrs.net'. Delete it. If you get a message "access is denied", have all database users restart their pc's then try deleting the file above again, if it is still present. http://www.pathloss.com/forums/showthread.php?t=457 NOTE: The 'Pdoxusrs.net' file will recreate itself when the first user logs back in. It is normal for this file to be present even when no user is in the database. During BDE Installation, the Error Message "Merging the Configuration File has Failed" Occurs Summary During BDE installation, InstallShield Express displays the error message "Merging the configuration file has failed". Discussion InstallShield Express includes with your BDE setup a configuration file called Idapi32.cnf. (For a 16-bit setup, this file is named Idapi.cnf.) During installation, InstallShield Express copies this file to a temporary location, and then adds to it the settings you chose in the BDE Alias dialogs. If there exists no BDE on the target system, then InstallShield Express simply saves the Idapi32.cnf file to the default BDE directory as Idapi32.cfg. However, if the target machine already has BDE on it (and so has a preexisting Idapi32.cfg file), InstallShield Express then calls the BDE Merge function to merge the Idapi32.cnf file with the existing Idapi32.cfg file, thereby adding your s

Answers 0 Hi Anitha, Are you trying to configure the Borland Database (Is the BDE Merge module installed by the MSI)? Is the BDEMerge.INI available with the sources? I've seen this bde administrator windows error a couple of times and the solutions can be: 1) place the BDEMERGE.INI file with the configurations beside the MSI when installing. 2) Install BDE before your application. Hope this helps, Aidy. 06/01/2006 Software Deployment Package Development Hello all, I am currently packaging an application called Shire Frontline and as part of the install the BDE Administrator is installed. Part of the installation procedure involves editing some settings through the BDE Administrator and this is saved in a file - C:\Program Files\common Files\Borland shared\BDE\IDAPI32.CFG. I was wondering has anyone ever had to deal with installing this file before? My worry is that if I install it as part of my package it will overwrite whatever file is present taking with it any previous configuration. I was thinking about writing a VB Script to check for the presence of the file and if it's present to append whatever is needed to the file. However, this file isn't a basic text file. When opened in notepad a few characters appear not to be recognised, therefore I'm not sure what exactly to append. Any ideas how to get around this? Anyonwe had to deal with installing this file before? Thanks in advance for any help........ 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,so that the conversation will remain readable. I've downloaded that exe, in fact 2 exe's, the pro and enterprise versions. However, I can't install these as apparently i need a version of Delphi or C++ installed. I've looked into it through the help in installshield and it looks like there is a BDE Design wizard that you can use to take care of it, but apparently you need to have a version of Borland installed on you
