I can't read the error code while the blue screen is up. After I shut down and reboot, I get a dialog that gives these details: Problem signature: Problem Event http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/blue-screen-windows-7-bccode-7f/f9b0636d-7bf3-4108-8b70-b8cfee538058 Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 7f BCP1: 0000000000000008 BCP2: 0000000080050031 BCP3: 00000000000006F8 BCP4: FFFFF80002C7AC91 OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\052310-23290-01.dmp C:\Users\User1\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-42837-0.sysdata.xml As I recall, a blue screen show an error code that begins "OX....." I'm on a backup computer now running XP. The problem was on a new Dell. They're sending me Windows 7 installation disk (left out of the original order), and I'll have to reinstall the OS when that arrives. Firstly I thought it was due to Zone Alarm from what I read on the net, but then I thought it was a memory blue screen windows issue after it crashed whilst I was running Memtest. Memtest needs to be run for days through to catch hiding issues, and even then you can't be 100% certain. 24 hours is pretty much a minimum for calling memories "most likely OK". share|improve this answer answered Aug 11 '11 at 16:30 Zds 1,989915 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote If it crashed while running memtest, most likely you have a defective memory module, if you have
