Having read through the forum, I noticed a couple of other people have experienced the same problem. Whenever I click on, say, add/remove programs, an error message reading "c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe : this file is being used by another program" flashes up. I've tried following the trojan pre-removal advice (very helpful btw), but I can't turn off system restore as http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/cannot-open-control-panel-rundll32-problem.59234/ I can't get into the system option in control panel! I also tried running a ewido scan in safe mode but the computer froze up. I've even tried replacing the dll file with a downloaded version (as mentioned in another thread), but no joy. As far as I can tell, it started when I installed the latest iTunes (which was a big, big mistake on so many levels!). I have attached a hijackthis log, but again I'm a novice and I don't know if I did it right. Sorry for waffling on and thanks in advance, Stereo Sep 22, 2006 #1 howard_hopkinso TS Rookie Posts: 24,177 +19 Hello and welcome to Techspot.
