Chkdsk Windows 7 Elevated Mode

I assume you mean open the "event viewer", under the "Windows Logs" folder open the "Application" folder and in the "Source" column look at the "Winlogon" entries. All thats ever shown are 2 different event notifications. NO chkdsk logs. (...and I checked a months worth of "Winlogon" entries.) There should be actual chkdsk windows 7 stuck files (*.log or *.txt) located either on the "root" drive or the "Windows" folder that contain the info of what occured during the execution of the CHKDSK command before bootup. At one time it could be found in the "bootex.txt" file, but I can find no such animal in Win7. Thanks! More specifically, here: Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application -> Wininit Wininit is found under the source column. share|improve this answer answered Nov 23 '10 at 17:00 Paul 3,8391735 Thanks - it was 50 / 50 between System and Application. I've updated my answer as well. –user3463 Nov 23 '10 at 22:05 In XP there was, since then I haven't had a use for a log, so I don't know. However, you can run CHKDSK from the command line and force it to output a text file log: CHKDSK C: /F > C:\LOG.TXT –Paul Nov 23 '10 at 22:22 add a comment| up vote 12 down vote To add to Paul's post: Go to Start, then type in 'event viewer' (without the quotes) in the search bar, and then select 'Event Viewer'. Since the Event Viewer could list tens of thousands or more events, this could make finding the 'Wininit' event (the chkdsk log) very hard. To make this easier, when in "Event Viewer » Windows Logs » Application", go to "Filter Current Log... » Fi
