shared Library (JDK) up vote 745 down vote favorite 158 When I try opening Eclipse, a pop-up dialog states: Failed to load the JNI shared library "C:/JDK/bin/client/jvm.dll"`. Following this, Eclipse force closes. Here's a few points I'd like to make: I checked to see if anything exists at that path. It does exist. My Eclipse and Java SE Development Kit are both 64-bit. I checked error loading jvm.dll windows 7 my system, and it can handle 64-bit. I've searched for this problem on Google and on StackOverflow, and the only answer I found was to download the 32-bit versions of JDK and Eclipse. Downloading the 32-bit versions is something I only want to do as a very last resort. What exactly was the problem in your case? –sjas Jul 3 '12 at 22:30 4 I had, to my surprise, 5 or so Java installed onto my computer. Not only that, but it turned out that I downloaded the 32-bit Eclipse by accident. So, I uninstalled every Java I had, deleted Eclipse (Eclipse doesn't have an "uninstall"), and downloaded Eclipse Classic 64-bit for my machine, along with a 64-bit Java (see SPP's answer for that link). –Mike S. I am using Windows 2000 and JRE 1.4.2_01. I tried setting the LAX_VM variable to my JRE location, as per a similar post for problems in 2.6.3. Is this a different issue? Please provide some MyEclipse for Dummies instructions on how I might be able to test your product. Thanks. PS. Specifically, I've tried setting the system variable (Control Panel, System Properties, Advanced Tab, Environment Variables, add System Variable) LAX_VM=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01 (tried \bin and \lib as well). LAX_VM needs to point specifically to javaw.exe, so it should be: LAX_VM=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01\bin\javaw.exe That should get you going. Sorry for the confusion. -Scott MyEclipse Support December 7, 2003 at 10:57 pm #200546 Reply garyashleyMember Thanks Scott. Wow, what

Jvm.dll is a type of DLL file associated with IBM WebSphere Application Server for Windows NT developed by IBM Inc. for the Windows Operating System. The latest known version of Jvm.dll is 1.0.0.0, which was produced for Windows. This DLL file carries a popularity rating of 1 stars and a security rating of "UNKNOWN". What Are DLL Files? windows 7 DLL ("dynamic link library") files such as jvm.dll are small programs, similar to EXE ("executable") files, which allow multiple software programs to share the same functionality (eg. printing). For example, let's say you are running Windows and editing a document in Microsoft Word. The DLL file that controls printing does not need to load unless it's function is needed - eg. you decide to print your document. When you select "Print", Microsoft Word calls the printer could not load DLL file, and it is loaded into memory (RAM) at that time. If you want to print a document in another program, Adobe Acrobat for example, that same printer DLL file will be used as well. Why Do I Have DLL Errors? Because they are shared files, DLL files exist outside of the software application itself. Although this provides many benefits for software developers, this separation also provides an opportunity for problems to occur.Quite simply, if Windows cannot properly load your jvm.dll file, you will encounter an error message. Please see "Causes of jvm.dll Errors" below for more information. When Do DLL Errors Occur? DLL errors, such as those associated with jvm.dll, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing). Common Jvm.dll Error Messages The most common jvm.dll errors that can appear on a Windows-based computer are: "Jvm.dll not found." "The file jvm.dll is missing." "Jvm.dll Access Violation." "Cannot register jvm.dll." "Cannot find C:\Windows\System32\\jvm.dll." "Cannot start IBM WebSphere Application Server for Windows NT. A required component is missing: jvm.dll. Please install IBM WebSphere Application Server for Windows NT again." "This application failed to start because jvm.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." These DLL error messages can appear during program installation, while a jvm.d
