Please save your work." Specs: Acer Laptop TimelineX 5820TG. Windows 7 64 Bit. 1 year old. Since then I have deleted about 100GB of files, performed virus scan, a defrag and a registry clean of my system. And I am still getting the errors. I need this laptop for my job! Help very much appreciated! #1 KingstonU, Jan 23, 2012 denis280 Diamond Member shutdown windows 7 Joined: Jan 16, 2011 Messages: 3,326 Likes Received: 2 di you try a CHKDSK. #2 denis280, Jan 23, 2012 KingstonU Golden Member Joined: Dec 26, 2006 Messages: 1,367 Likes Received: 2 denis280 said: ↑ di you try a CHKDSK.Click to expand... I am running a FULL virus scan right now because the one I did before was just a "quick" scan. But as soon as that's done I will try CHKDSK, thanks. What will running chkdsk do? Will it tell me if I have a faulty hard drive? If I do then what happens? I have to buy a new laptop? #3 KingstonU, Jan 23, 2012 Last edited: Jan 23, 2012 KingstonU Golden Member Joined: Dec 26, 2006 Messages: 1,367 Likes Received: 2 Ok the FULL virus scan found siric.c trojan or something so got rid of that. Started checking my hard drive for errors but it's too long a process to do during the day so I had stop that after it was 13% completed. I will run it again tonight while I sleep. #4 KingstonU, Jan 23, 2012 Ketchup Lifer Joined: Sep 1, 2002 Messages: 12,604 Likes Received: 8 Sounds like a

Brandon Phelan New MemberJoined:Jun 16, 2012Messages:4Likes Received:0 I ended processes such as lsm.exe and a prompt came up telling me what Windows has encountered a critical problem and that it will restart in one minute. Even though the process has ended (and remains closed), Windows OPERATES PERFECTLY FINE AND NORMALLY. Why does Windows have to shut down when I am ending something that is not necessary for operation of the system? I am wondering if there is a way to prevent the shutting down / automatic restarting of Windows when a "critical" system process has ended? The computer runs better with this garbage turned off and Windows is having hissy fits for no reason. Thanks! #1 Brandon Phelan, Jun 16, 2012 Voislav Sauca New MemberJoined:Jun 16, 2012Messages:2Likes Received:0 Is a virus that may be responsible - TrojanDownloder. Win32.Agent., 1. Download the Kaspersky Rescue Disk from Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 2. Grab the .iso in a CD ~200mb 3. Run it before start windows. After you remove this virus the system is not more acting up.
