I posted on Tweaking.com's forums about using their tool to do a sfc scan, and someone replied after analyzing my details to say that the scan ended only partially finished. I noticed that CMD said it was at 42% when it ended. The guy on the other forums recommended a chkdsk, but when I try to windows 7 run a chkdsk using their tool or on my own (which requires a reboot), my laptop reboots without actually running the chkdsk. Is there any way to boot up for sure to have it run with either a boot cd or something? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell Vostro 1520. Jim Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top joefuf Posts: 121 This post has been reported. Believe me, it doesn't work when I tell it to. Are there other options to force the chkdsk? I have my install CD if that helps. Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top oliverpowell Posts: 35 This post has been reported. At the command prompt type 'CHKDSK /f' and hit OK button. If it says the volume is in use with an option Y/N to check disk on startup, press Y and again hit OK or Enter button. This will always check the disk at startup until disabled by cancelling the scan within the allotted time. Good Luck!!
