My mother's HP Pavillion a6614f desktop was recently upgraded from Vista to 7. There was an issue with Windows Update where no updates would install; they all said "Cancelled". A friend, the same one who handled the upgrade for her, took care of that issue for the most part. But now, SP1 continually fails with the following error: Code 800F0826 3 other updates also continue to fail: Canon - Printers - Canon MX880 series Printer (for the printer she bought this week) HP - Display - HP w2216 Wide LCD Monitor (for the monitor that came with the PC) Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2607576) (Not sure) Any idea what's causing the failures? Running Windows 7 Professional, System type: 64-bit Operating System Any other info needed, just let me know. When installing Windows 7 SP1, error 0x800f0826 is generated with no additional information. I've found hundreds of discussion board posts related to this problem, but few are anything more than people reporting the problem. The closest thing I've found to a common thread is that earlier versions of DriverSweeper.Net would remove some necessary video drivers that SP1 required, windows 7 sp1 but I don't think my remote user is using this app (I've asked, but havent' gotten a response yet). Does anyone have any decent information on this particular error? windows-7 service-pack share|improve this question asked Jul 21 '11 at 12:15 Scott Mayfield 17329 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Before you kill yourself trying to fix this, try running the "System Update Readiness Tool" first. It is often a miracle worker as it can automatically fix problems that get in the way of a successful service pack install. It can take from 15 minutes to over 2 hours to run, so if it takes a long time, do not worry, it is probably still working. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 share|improve this answer answered Jul 21 '11 at 12:26 KCotreau 23.4k43760 add a comment| You must log in to answer this question. fails to install Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Windows (KB976932) fails to install on a 32 bit Windows 7 Enterprise edition with an error message 0x800f0826. This is an important update and a successful installation of SP1 is much desired, however, this was not the case for many users. In this procedure I am going to show you the steps I took to find what was causing this failure and the workaround I used to overcome the unknown error - 0x800f0826 while installing SP1 on a virtual machine. Before proceeding further, I recommend you to optimize system performance using eBoostr’s intelligent buffer design which ensures that only the applications you need are accelerated. The Ultimate Speed Boost for Windows! My first attempt was to install SP1 from Windows Update but after I encountered the first couple of errors I decided to downloading it from Microsoft Download Center. In both scenarios that is, using Windows Update or downloaded file, the installation failed at 9% and upon reboot gave an unknown error message 0x800f0826 After following Microsoft recommendations which are found below, I decided to troubleshoot by first looking into the Service Pack installation log file - %SystemDrive%\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log as to determine which step was bringing the process to a halt: Stage: 1 out of 1.
