I thought "probably something small". Yeah! RIGHT! On Vista? HA! So I go there. I have a look. User log on was taking minutes, welcome screen more. No IP address. No DNS server. What the hell? I received the message "cannot connect to the system event notification service service" problem as soon as I logged in (on an administrator account of course) as well as a message stating "WSAStartup has failed or incorrect version of winsock is installed." (Which has since not appeared again) In addition I am unable to access the network card due to "The dependency service or group failing to start". And whenever I try to use either of these commands: "netsh int ip reset" "netsh winsock reset" For "netsh int ip reset" I Receive: "initialization function InitHelperDLL in NSHHTTP.DLL failed to start with eroor code 10107 Reseting Echo Request, failed. Access is denied. Reseting Interface, OK! A reboot is required to compplete this action" -On reboot there is no difference. For "netsh winsock reset" I Receive: "Initialization Function InitHelperDLL in NSHHTTP.DLL failed to start with error code 10107 The system cannot find the file specified" -I tried rebooting and still no fix. How should I fix this? billybump19, Mar 9, 2011 #1 Saga Lout Joined: Sep 15, 2004 Messages: 3,791 Have you tried the suggested fixes in Safe Mode?
