I tried to start the service it displays Error 1084: This service cannot be started in safe mode. I have attached thumbnails of that error messages. I have same problem with my desktop and laptop. PPPoE is treated like a Dial-Up connection by Windows, and will not work in Safe Mode with Networking, as only Ethernet connections are enabled. Like the error says, the services needed can't be started in Safe Mode. You'd need a router that can be configured to handle the PPPoE part so that your connection is a simple Ethernet connection to the router. I have a DSL modem and it is PPPOE I think because in Ubuntu I use sudo pppoeconf to connect to internet. I don't know much more. But you must be right. It's not necessary to me to connect to internet in safemode. But in case I got infected and can't use normal mode, that would be useful... I may consider purchasing a router. Solution 3. 1) If none of the above things work for you then go to C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup folder. 2) Right click and open "Properties" window. 3) Go to "Security" tab and there you will see the users who are having access to this folder. 4) Click on "Add". 5) Click find. 6) Then add "SYSTEM" as one of the owners for this folder. 7) Click OK. 8 ) Restart system. 9) Now you may be able to use Dial-Up Connection and Event Viewer.
