and Deployment Question 1 Sign in to vote Hi I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate RTM off from technet sysprep windows 7 fatal error and as always I do make use of WIM images on having them deployed to my home PC's I was able to have it installed on a clean machine and once
Sysprep Windows 7 A Fatal Error Occurred
the wizard appeared i immediately entered Audit mode (shift+ctrl+f3) and the usual I loaded all of the software i need to pre-install after I was done I Immediately loaded sysprep and had it with the generalized option now this is where the problem begins....... after it restarts during the "Setup is starting Services" screen it gives me a message box error saying sysprep windows 7 download "Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt resume configuration, restart the computer" and once I press ok it jsut restarts and gives the same error again. This does not happen when i dont select the generalize option in sysprep. Anyone who had the same issues? This solution will actually tell you exactly what registry key is causing your sysprep to fail, so then you don't have to slowly install every program until you find the problem -- especially since this didn't work for me because my problem has been intermittent. This issue is caused by certain registry keys that are either: a) Larger than 8kb b) Set with incorrect permissions c) Corrupt in some way For me, the problem was intermittent (same registry key would sometimes cause the issue and sometimes not - must be corrupt sometimes) so it was impossible to tell what program was doing
that if you have syspreped the same image several times, it will not work. Although he did not have an exact number of times he stated he stopped after 3 syspreps, and believes the limit is 5. If you have syspreped,
Sysprep Windows 7 Location
installed and then syspreped again several times, this solution will not work, nor will any

UPDATE 2: This is also a viable solution for Windows 8(.1) systems. UPDATE 3 (January 2016): Reported to work on https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/f7e1a2ce-f797-4e34-ae47-529926186275/windows-could-not-finish-configuring-the-system-error-after-sysprep-generalize?forum=w7itproinstall Windows 10 after sysprep.[/notification] Over the past week I have been re-imaging the 13 computers in our public computer centre at work, and I came across a small problem. In the past, and by past I mean pre-college, I used to use a program called Norton Ghost to create images of my home system so that at a moments notice I could re-image my system and https://www.considerednormal.com/2013/07/fix-windows-could-not-finish-configuring-the-system-error-after-using-sysprep-on-windows-7/ have all my applications installed without the hassle of re-installing everything manually, but those days are gone as Norton Ghost transformed into something entirely different. These days it is said that it is much easier to use Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK for short) however it is not without its issues, like most Microsoft products. The issue arose after I did a sysprep to the original system and tried to reboot the system after I created my .wim image. Upon first boot I got a wonderful message on my screen that read: Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt resume configuration, restart the computer And after several unsuccessful reboots, the error message still returned, and always when it tried to start the services. I searched several forums on the issue and tried every "correct answer" response I could find, to no avail. One such "correct answer" was to remove the system from the domain before running sysprep, but as the systems I am dealing with are in a workgroup, this answer was obviously not correct for my situation. Another possible "correct answer" was to disable Avira Antivirus 32bit, this is close to aRELATED PROJECTS Windows 7/Office 2013 migration Windows XP Pro goes BOOM in April 2014... need I say more ? Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I have honestly had the worst two weeks of my life with this 50 laptop deployment using images. Granted, I have never done it before using images; however, I am usually pretty quick on picking up on things and most of the issues sysprep windows 7 I have had are things I wouldn't have known ahead of time. So, I am attempting to run SYSPREP on a machine. (Windows 7 Pro). Seems like all goes well, until it reboots and starts back up and then I get an error that states ""Windows Could Not Finish Configuring the System.." during the starting services stage. I have searched the internet and found tons of people this problem, and tons of suggestions - none of which are "official" or even relatively close to situations that I am in. It appears that in some instances Kapersky has something to do with this; however, I am not running Kapersky. I do have some 3rd part applications install, such as FortiClient (which is my Virus/Firewall). VZ Access Manager for the built-in 3G card, Office 2010 Starter, among a few other things (such as SonicWall NetExtender, etc.) Here is the problem, how in the world can I figure out which app is causing this problem (or what else could be causing this problem?)
