the CD burning function in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, I finally tracked down a functional solution. http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/sof...s/default.html Download the latest PX Engine, and right-click, select "Run as Administrator" and install. It should fix the error with http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/windows-7-dvd-burning-error/4c0969bb-716c-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5 CD burning (it worked for me in Windows 7 64-bit and Vista Business 64-bit). You may want to restart to clean up the kruft, but that should be the extent of fixing. keithpowers View Public Profile Find More Posts by keithpowers 4th December 2010, 05:07 #2 DJ Egg TechoratorWinamp & SHOUTcast Team Join Date: Jun 2000 Posts: 35,678 Interesting. Thanks for the info. It makes you wonder why Roxio/Sonic http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=324557 haven't sent us said update.... Our version is 4.10.32.502, whereas the update is 4.18.16a Which specific error are you referring to, by the way? Is it the "There was a problem installing components. CD Ripping/Burning may not function properly.. '-1'" installation error, or something else? Playlist -|- Twitter DJ Egg View Public Profile Visit DJ Egg's homepage! I've been using Winamp since 1998 (which is a very long time ago in application years), so I've seen weird quirks... On my 2 Windows 64-bit systems, the disc burn would start, write lead-in, and then eject with the cryptic error "Burn Process Failed". I tried re-installs, tried wiping the registry clean of Winamp references, nothing worked... And then I decided to see if the Sonic engine was updated recently when I found that PX updater. After trying it, Winamp worked just fine (and burned correctly). Hence, why I posted this... I noticed that lots of people had issues with 5.3x series related to the px.dll and put 2+2 together (after being frustrated for a month). keithpowers View Public Profile Find More Posts by keithpowers 19th December 201

Putting the questionable DVD drive into another PC will enable you to test if for hardware faults before replacing it. Most modern DVD drives are SATA interface you could swap it with existing DVD drive or possible add as an additional DVD drive The alternative test method would be to use a bootable WinPE3 or Linux usb memory stick to see if that operating system can burn CD's (bypassing a possibly corrupt registry) regards Mike Barnes m 0 l dancolclaser 5 January 2013 20:30:23 Guy's. Thanks for all the reply's. I tried everything and then it came down to a really, really stupid mistake on my part. It's hard to admit but the only problem was my computer was not recognizing the CD-R BRAND. I had been using TDK's to burn my music and ran out of them. Bought some Sony and another brand without even thinking they would not be recognized by my computer. WRONG!!
