Bootmgr Is Missing Press Ctrl+alt+del To Restart
Starter Joined: Jan 8, 2007 Messages: 13 About a month back, my 5 year old PC died on me, due to bootrec simultaneous failures of the motherboard, PSU and the main HDD which had a Windows 7 installation. I went and got replacement parts and got my computer running. I installed windows onto the new drive and my computer would boot up. But weirdly enough, it detected TWO copies of Windows 7. Trying to boot the second copy of "windows" would end up in an error. I didn't pay much attention to it, because all it took was me hitting enter for the boot sequence to continue. But recently, my secondary HDD which I had with me has also failed, and I've taken it out. But now, my computer doesn't recognise that I have an OS installed on my still-functioning main HDD. I get a "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key." error whenever I try to boot. I figured that my secondary HDD contained the BCD. I read up on this error on google, and tried rebuilding the BCD on my new primary HDD, but to no avail. I get the "BOOTMGR is missing" error. I tried using the Win7 CD that I installed my OS with, but I get this error when I try to select my OS from the list to repair: "This version of System Recovery is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows." If I hit Next without selecting my OS from the list and go straight to repair, I get this error among others: --------------------------- Boot manager is missing or corrupt. Repair action: File repair Result: Failed. Error code = 0x15 Time taken = 0 ms --------------------------- The immediate error screen that comes up after I finish the Startup Repair shows this: Problem Signature Problem Event

Im running Windows 7 x64. When I installed it I had 4 hdds total. I pulled one of my older hdds out(formatted it first) and now I get the "bootmgr is missing" thing when I boot up. I read the https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-bootmgr-is-missing-unable-to-fix-with-rebuildbcd.1089883/ forums and tried what fixes I could find. I tried doing the bootrec. I backedup the old bcd and made a new one. I found out my new hdd that I installed win7 onto didnt have an "active" partition. so i changed that and now i know something was probably setup onto the hdd i formatted and pulled out. When I go into "repair http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/bootmgr-missing-windows-7-x64 your computer" on my win7 disk and it searches for operation systems it didnt see anything but since i made the partition "active" it sees one. however the "system recovery options" are "not compatible" since my win7 disk is win7 32 and 64. so i cant do a system restore. when i go into "startup repair" in the system recovery options it tells me to remove any recently installed attatchments. under the diagnostic and repair details it says: Boot manager is missing or corrupt. repair action: file repair Result:failed. error code = 0x15 im trying to be detailed so i dont waste anyones time. any help would be much appreciated thanx Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top fuih8u Posts: 2 This post has been reported. Well Im glad no one could help, or could even post a reply. I found the solution. I had to download a specific Windows 7 x64 recovery disc and run the repair that way. Hope this helps someone else some day. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top trondster Posts: 1 This post has been reported. I found this rather useful

I don't know for sure where to start. I cannot boot a dell dimension 9200. It will not boot to safe mode. But I do have a spotmau disk that will get me to thedesktop. I have attempted a system repair but cannot do it or a repair install because the hard drive did not boot so repair doesn't work. I am seeing a message that the bootmanager is missing. I went through the steps to rebuild the bootmanager butthat did not fix it. Iearlier found a virus on this computer and got help at emisoft to get rid of it. It was webcake. The computer worked for about a day after that and now nothing. I have done a hard disk check and it says it passed. The lights on the front of the computer are green and 1 2 3 are the diagnostic lights are lite in green. There are no beeps when the computer tries to boot. I am not sur
