First, you need to make sure your firewall settings are correct - KB4L8FNBHL:How Do I Configure my Windows Firewall to Allow OPC Server Communication?. Secondly, and most importantly, you need to make sure you have the correct DCOM settings on both computers. More information on that can be found on the OPC Foundation's website -Using OPC via DCOM with Windows XP Service Pack 2. Personally, I know that DCOM can get very hard to implement and debug. If it is an option, I would recommend setting up another OPC server on the remote machine, connect to the original OPC server through your network, and then use the client to access the tags on that local OPC server. If so, then the problem lies in the client you are using.Anyway, it is always usefull to look at your DCOM settings. Go to Configuration Console under Applications>OPC Settings>Security.
