Solved Need to remove "control userpasswords2" cached credentials by hacking registry Posted on windows 7 2012-07-26 Windows 7 Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 9 Comments 3,175 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-14 Hi, I have recently added a registry item to all PCs on our domain via group policy prefs, which prevents users from being able to save proxy server credentials when they open internet explorer. It removed the 'save password' tick box, and it worked well. However, there key manager windows are a few people who aldready had cached credentials on their laptops, and now, when they plug into another domain they no longer get the prompt to input their credentials. I know I can go to "control userpasswords2", and Manage Passwords, but non-admin users cannot do this. Also, when I do a "run as" as an admin user, the dialog box that opens actually shows the admin user's cached passwords, not the logged on user's cached passwords! So to get around we have to... 1. log off the user 2. remote manage the PC to add the user as a local admin temporarily 3. log the user back 4. delete the cached passwords 5. log off the user 6. take the user out of local admins group 7. log the user back in So, a bit of a faff. Where in the registry can I delete to get rid of these ached passwords? Thanks. 0 Question by:meirionwyllt Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 30 Best Solution byflubbster hmmm... tried it on mine just not and it worked fine. I did an additional search and i
