I have SQLServer http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?651418-MSADODC-ocx-control-stopped-working-VB6-on-Windows7-(with-SQL2008) 2008 installed. Last Friday after updating SQL2008 by adding SQL browser all of my VB6 projects that use the MSadodc control will no longer Compile. I get the error: "User-Defined type not defined." Nothing has changed in any of the VB6 programs. I just needed to recompile because i changed the caption on a label. I can create a brand new VB6 project. Add a form and add the msadodc control. When I dbl-click the control in design view....i get the error "User-Defined type not defined.". I've tried re-Registering the control - no luck. All I can assume is that something in the SQL2008 install process messed with it. I'm in a tight spot with a client rollout now. I really appreciate any help or ideas that you can share. But same application works on window xp. please any body help out to resolve this issue. thanks, Ismail Posted 19-Dec-13 6:38am Member 10477399302 Add a Solution 1 solution Rate this: Please Sign up or sign in to vote. Solution 1 Accept Solution Reject Solution Firstly you need to read the support statement for VB6 under Windows 7[^] - this will hopefully explain why a program that works on XP will not necessarily just run on Win7 Next, problems with msadodc.ocx are common - e.g. this thread discusses them [^] and there are several more via google. Win7 Service Pack 1 caused many issues, so make sure your Windows Updates are up to date. Finally, I'm currently working on a project to migrate some VB5/VB6 programs onto Win7 and I'm wishing that a bite-the-bullet approach of converting to .NET was an option. If you have that option then go for it! Permalink Posted 11-Jan-14 10:11am CHill60158.2K Comments Maciej Los 11-Jan-14 16:46pm
