(Did you do any recent updates at all - be it pci.sys driver from M$-land or wherever)?Or - and this is very remote... - possibly a RAM stick starting to show its age...; or least a need for a clean of its contacts... Failing RAM, or RAM with slightly oxidised contacts can often produce all manner of "errors" and BSOD on startup - and shut down... As I say it is a long shot.. But then so were the moon and Mars once...A dump etc. as per JohnW is a useful thing to apply; and all the more so as he does seem to be more across those annoying BSOD etc. than many here (myself not the least these days...). See in Thread ↓#1 johnr December 25, 2013 at 00:17:41 Is this something that has suddenly started happening 'out of the blue', or is it after a fresh installation of Windows or some other change? Reason for asking is that the last time I encountered a similar problem it was after a reinstallation of XP."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pci.sys is a type of SYS file associated with Applications, SDK/DDK pci.sys - address f748e0bf developed by Microsoft for the Windows Operating System. The latest known version of Pci.sys is 1.0.0.0, which was produced for Windows. This SYS file carries a popularity rating of 1 stars http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/pcisys-bsod-shows-up-on-shutting-down-xp/202869.html and a security rating of "UNKNOWN". What Are SYS Files? SYS files such as pci.sys are third-party (eg. Microsoft) device drivers or critical system files that come as part of the Windows operating system. Most SYS files allow internal PC hardware or attached hardware, such as a printer, to communicate with third-party software programs (eg. web browsers, word processors, Applications, SDK/DDK) http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/bsod-blue-screen-error/sys/windows/microsoft/applications-sdk-ddk/pci-sys/ and the operating system (eg. Windows).Other SYS files are critical system files called "kernel mode device drivers" which are used to power the Windows operating system. Files such as "CONFIG.SYS" contain configuration settings and specify what device drivers should be loaded by the operating system. Without driver files such as pci.sys, you wouldn't be able to do simple tasks such as printing a document. Why Do I Have SYS Errors? SYS file errors are typically caused by faulty hardware or corrupt device driver files. Because of the importance of Pci.sys in the functionality of Applications, SDK/DDK and other Windows functions, any corruption or damage to this file can create critical system errors in the form of a "blue screen of death" (BSOD). Please see "Causes of Pci.sys Errors" below for more information. When Do SYS Errors Occur? SYS errors, such as those associated with pci.sys, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing). Common Pci.sys Error Messages The majority of pci.sys errors that you encounter will be "blue screen of

It's usually the same error (I think) , something along the lines of "pci.sys...stop error: " with a bunch of zeros and a seven with letter. Only once did it happen while I was at the windows home screen and got a different error: Pci.sys-address F7349AB9 base at F7347000 DateStamp 4800252bb page_fault_in_nonpaged_area stop 0x0000050 Microsoft has it listed here After that, my computer when into a cycle of rebooting itself before getting to the welcome screen. I disabled the card, Uninstalled ATI drivers, and went back to using the onboard video card. I didn't get "Page_fault" error again. I went back to using the ATI graphics card using driver that came with CD, latest drivers aren't working properly. They keeping giving me error without any detail. I still get that other PCI.sys error, and I'm not sure why or how to resolve it. My ideas are : 1)Driver issues 2) GC isn't working properly 3) my old comp (got it in 04 or 05) just doesn't work with newer cards 4) I accidentally deleted a windows driver (Nv4). Not sure and maybe a few others, not sure. I have about week to return the card back if it isn't compatible I'm not techy, so any help would be greatly appreciated..
