I tried using my windows cd but when I press r and it takes me to the menu to select the windows installation it gives me a BSOD. STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR It's a Dell E520, Windows XP SP3 I ran hdd diagnostic and it said that it was fine. When I press the "setup windowx xp" option and agree to the terms I still get a bsod. I've tried reading other forum posts but none of them have a solution. I can only type one value in the recovery console which is the number 1 which stands for my windows install. Can you see me now? However, I do not have a source for this because I only used it at the shop I worked at. That said, I found another option from a fairly reliable source (while searching for "SubInACL"). Assuming that recovering from an earlier restore point is not possible, it may be worth looking at. If you have Windows XP Professional, you can type in a single command to repair the registry. This command is secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose This only works with Windows XP Professional and will not have any effect on other versions.
