But, Acrobat Reader is one of the biggest attack surfaces error adobe reader for malware (i.e., the "drive by" kind), where you can simply visit a web site and become infected, because malware writers will look to see if you have vulnerable versions of Acrobat Reader installed and try to exploit those 'holes". What Operating System (Windows XP, Vista Win 7, etc.) are you running? Acrobat Reader 9.5 is at "end of life". The last release of it was 9.5.5 released in May 2013, and there will be *NO* further updates to the Acrobat Reader 9.5 series. If you're still using XP, as long as you have Service Pack 3 installed, you can get a newer 11.x version. But, I'd strongly advise going with an older 9.5.x, version of Acrobat Reader, unless you want to get a malware infection due to visiting a web page taking advantage of unpatched vulnerabilities in older releases. That's because security vulnerabilities are found in Acrobat Reader on a frequent basis, and the 9.5 releases will no longer be patched to protect against those problems that malware writers are going to take advantage of. As suggested by MisterBG, you're probably better off going with something like FoxIt instead of an older version of Acrobat Reader that is only going to act as an attack surface for malware.
