SQL Server running on a local Windows server. Windows 2000 Server running an active directory. There is a front-end application that was written in VB (I believe) to access the SQL Server DB. When one user logs into a machine running WinXP, they have no problem accessing the SQL Server bde error using the front-end app. A new employee has just joined the company (not ours, one of our customers). They are setup in active directory and can log into the XP machine mentioned earlier. However, when they try to use the front-end app, they get the error “Driver not known to system. Alias: ….”. In the DBE Administrator, for the user that the bde error 10013 front-end app works, in the Configuration tab, under Drivers, there is a driver for ‘MSSQL’. For the user that the front-end app doesn’t work, there is no driver for ‘MSSQL’. Does anyone know how to install a driver in DBE Administrator for MSSQL? An alias is trying to use the MSSQL driver, but it doesn’t exist, hence the error. At least, that’s my diagnosis. If anyone has any thoughts on what else could possibly causing this error, please let me know. Thanks for your help. This is how it usually works in case of SQL Server and frond-end app being 2 different physical machines: SQL Server is configured to accept SQL Server authentication Front-end application is connecting to SQL Server via a predefined set of SQL Server credentials depending on the user role. Note - you don't use
