Bde Error 9473
updates and Delnnn.db files Hello All Sorry if this is a double post but I posted this message in borland.public.bde via my isp news service and it dosen't show up here so here's the question (again) :-) I'm running in to a strang problem - sometimes our application (Delphi 4 / Oracle 7.3.4 client server app) will crash with the BDE error 9473 and a message such as C:\Temp\Delnnn.db where xxx is a number. What I thought after searching on the internet was that : a) Cached updates generate the Delnnn.db files b) The Delnnn files are paradox files c) They must be created in a local directory to avoid conflicts d) The maximum number allowed is defined by the MaxHandles parameter of the BDE e) With the error 9473 all old Delnnn files should be deleted and the application restarted - the reason begin that the Bde is trying to create a file which already exists and was not deleted due a an abnormal termination of the application. I just had the error 9473 C:\Temp\Del494.db !!! The file Del949.db does not exist in the Temp directory nor anywhere else and seeing as our MaxFileHandles are set to 256 why is the ile Del494 being created. This invlidates points d and e !! I missing something here, can anybody help Sincerely Paul Other Threads 1. BDE Error 9473 Insufficient Memory for this operation Cached updates and Delnnn.db files 2. that is used to migrate our old Paradox dbs to MSSQL 7. If the main application is open and the migration utility is run, when the migration utility opens a db the 9473 error is issued. I've seen some of the postings here on this error but the solutionis given didn't help. We are working on NT 4 service pack 6 computers and the SHAREDMEMSIZE in BDE admin has been upped to 8192 where it was originally 2048. Answer: More than likely, you have hit one of the BDE fixed, but configurable, memory limitations. Use the BDE Administrator (BDEADMIN.EXE) to increase MEMSIZE and SHAREDMEMSIZE settings. You might also want to re-evaluate the application hitting this limitation because it is likely that the application is a serious resource hit on the machine. Not using auto-create forms and only opening tables and queries when needed can free up resources. 7/15/98 3:23:06 PM --- end paste meikl 0 Message Author Comment by:DGN2
