Thanks. PS: I know what the error means (it cannot load a service library) - but without any more information, it is difficult to know precisely what is causing the error. Answer: Error 210A means 'CannotloadIDAPIlibrary'. This means that your software 'Recipe Box' uses the BDE. A good installation program should check if the BDE is already installed and if not offer to install it. Does that recipe box http://www.delphigroups.info/2/ca/46077.html software come with something called BDE installation or so? It might be a different folder on your installation disk, or a different disk (the BDE tends to need a full floppy disk) or maybe a separated download from the manufacturer. If not, you might find a place on the web where you can download a copy of the BDE installation. It http://www.delphifaq.com/faq/delphi/database/f82.shtml would be better to use the BDE that came with the recipe software, because there are different versions of the BDE and the recipe box software might only work with specific versions. Anyway, at the time of writing, you can download version 5.2 of the BDE here: http://ibinstall.defined.net/dl_bdeinfo.htm Send a message to Subject Comments: 2012-01-19, 03:49:15 anonymous THANKS NEW: Optional: Register Login Email address (not necessary): Rate as Off-topic Very Helpful Helpful Ok article Not useful Very bad Hide my email when showing my comment. I bde error 210a am also unable to start BDE Administrator -- there are no error messages; it simply does not start when double-clicked. In addition, attempts to use the BDE from within the C++Builder IDE are met with a "An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine (error $2108)" failure. Answer/Solution: This behavior strongly suggests a problem with your BDE path, which is stored in the following part of the Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Borland | Database Engine In that Registry key, the value CONFIGFILE01 needs to point to your idapi32.cfg file, and the value DLLPath needs to point to the directory where your idapi32.dll resides. If you have installed C++Builder and the BDE to the default directories, then the data for CONFIGFILE01 should be: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE\IDAPI32.CFG And the data for DLLP
