Prepare Ad For Exchange 2010
in to vote Hello, I have planed to export some mailbox that I have on exchange 2007 to PST and I installed a new server with windows 2003 (same OS as exchange server) but 32bit edition and after joining it to my current exchange 2007 domain, I cannot setup the EMC because of this error: Management Tools Prerequisites Failed Error: Active Directory does not exist or cannot be contacted. Recommended Action: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=30939&l=en&v=ExBPA.12&id=51e5500d-8b18-4eee-bb8e-925d063b60a1 I should add this: I have this computer in my active directory on main exchange server and I gave it Domain Admins and all other rights that is necessary and I am logging into this new 32bit server with administrator account of my domain controller. Any one knows whats the issue ? Thanks in advance. Sunday, August 08, 2010 9:44 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote You need you use your DC/DNS servers as for your member server DNS servers. You cannot use public DNS servers and expect AD to work properly. Try setting the VM in question to use the DC for its DNS and try again.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com Marked as answer by Fahimipour Monday, August 09, 2010 1:46 AM Monday, August 09, 2010 1:08 AM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Do you have any anti-virus or firewall installed? If so, disable them and try again. Also, you will need to be a member of the Exchange Organization Admins group. Here is a link to the prereqs for installing the management tools: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232090(EXCHG.80).aspx Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com Sunday, August 08, 2010 9:58 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Thanks for the reply. That's exactly the issue that I have ! I do not have ANY antivirus or firewall (software - hardware) in between of these two servers. The only thing I can say, they both are in ONE IP range with
are several causes of this problem: Your backup user does not have privileges to query the Active Directory Your backup user does not have administrator privileges on your Exchange Server Your backup user is not on the same domain as the Exchange Server Your Exchange Server or Domain Controller is down, or there is a networking problem Resolution Please follow this checklist and ensure that every point is covered: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/39f041c1-91f3-4086-b4b6-e12932d3dfa6/exchange-2007-remote-emc-ad-does-not-exist-or-cannot-be-contacted?forum=exchangesvrdeploylegacy Ensure that your backup user has privileges to query the Active Directory. Typically, if your backup user is part of the Domain Admins group, it will work. However, if you wish to customize your domain for security purposes, then you will need to ensure that your backup user has privileges to query https://www.backupassist.com/support/en/knowledgebase/BA1762-The-Exchange-Server-or-Domain-Controller-could-not-be-contacted.html?cshid=BA1762 the Active Directory and Exchange Server using LDAP. Ensure that your backup user has the rights to perform Exchange Administrative Tasks. A detailed How-To is provided here in the KB article BA1754 Exchange Server administrative privileges are required to export mailboxes reliably. Ensure that your backup user is on the same domain as your Exchange Server. We recommend a simple setup where you backup your Exchange Server from a computer within the same domain. While it is possible to backup across domains, and advanced administrators will be able to set it up, we do not officially provide techncial support for this scenario due to the increased number of complications that may arise. Please ensure that your Exchange Server and Domain Controller are running, that your DNS entries are correct, that firewalls have been correctly setup to avoid potential problems, etc. Last updated Created Further assistance 3rd Mar 2016 16th Mar 2007 BackupAssist Support page

I did that because I would like to export all mailboxes to PST (as shown in the video tutorial) because I'm about to move my exchange server to new hardware machine. The Management Console installed well but when I start it, I got cannot be contacted the following error message: "Get-ExchangeServer Error: The domain enterprise.local cannot be contacted or does not exist" & "Get-UMServer Error: The domain enterprise.local cannot be contacted or does not exist". Then I click OK and I get the following error msg: "Get-ExchangeAdministrator Error: The domain enterprise.local cannot be contacted or does not exist". I usually manage my server using remote dekstop and everything is working fine when I user the EMC directly on the server. Any idea why ? Solved Exchange 2010 install on Server 2008R2, "Active Directory does not exist or cannot be contacted" Posted on 2010-05-07 Exchange Active Directory 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 8,465 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-09 I set up two Server 2008 R2 x64 servers for an AD and Exchange 2010 install, created the AD environment and then went to install exchange 2010 on the other server. When doing the prerequisite check, I get the following message I pasted below. I have since installed the 2007 converter pack on both servers. I did go into users and computers and tried to add the domain IDs to the local admin group and can't seem to reach out to pull them in. I did add the server to the domain successfully. But, I'm thinking currently it may be something in the way I set up the AD server. Thanks! Summary: 4 item(s). 1 succeeded, 3 failed.
