seconds, and plug it again. In my case (i am using notebook), this seem to be the pseudo-button which tells iTunes to start syncing. ***** Apple, I spent 5 hours of solving this problem, and I realise to try this. And It works. I don't understand why we must use iTunes at all. I've been struggling with this for over 4 months now. I have only one PC that will snyc my ipod - and it's a laptop, and the main one I use never worked. I've tried all their fixes, from batch files, to registry edits, to windows patches, nothing worked!I tried this once, and now I'm working. This is a problem I have on 3 PC's - all with different ASUS MB's (not sure if that matters). Now I have to build a switch to remotely disconnect / reconnect my mouse until apple learns how to write windows USB drivers better. Thanks!!! I have used the current versions of NS and an older version of iTunes, version 10.7, together for years with no problems. In December 2014, I updated iTunes to version 12.0.1.26. Almost immediately thereafter, although my iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen continued to be properly detected by iTunes 12, I https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-security-and-ipod-shuffle-sync-issues was unable to sync the iPod Shuffle with iTunes ("unknown error occurred (-53); disk is not available"). I recently upgraded to iTunes version 12.1, with no change to my problem or to the error messages. After many hours with Apple Support, all to no avail, the only solution that allowed my iPod to work perfectly with iTunes was to uninstall NS. Now that I have re-installed NS, the same problems persist - cannot sync iPod Shuffle with iTunes. Computer #2: OS - Win 7, 8 GB RAM, current license and version of Norton Security. As a test, I installed iTunes old version 10.7 from Apple website. Again, iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen was properly detected by iTunes but was not able to sync. Again, the only solution was to ininstall NS. After re-installing NS, the same problems persist. Apple Support told me to ask Norton Support for a solution. I would appreciate your assistance in learning how to make NS and iTunes co-exist with one another. I then replaced Norton Internet security 21.0 on my windows 7 laptopwith Norton security (that's all it's called) and now iTunes freezes when Iconnect an iPod. I sometimes get the error message that “the ipod cannot besynced the disk is not available” iTunes will not shut down until I disconnectthe iPod, and eject it in My Computer. I have uninstalled Norton security and all works fine, when I reinstall norton the problem returns. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but to no avail. I contacted Norton, who carried out a remote connection to my laptop but after several hours and several attempts by the technicians (and me losing the will to live) I gave up. I have tried this on a second laptop with the same version of
