Authenticity Of The Host's Ssl Certificate Is Not Verified
5:55 AM I have an SRM setup in a shared recovery site model. At the protected site, the connection to vcenter server has been lost the vCenter server has suddenly lost it's connection to the local SRM server with the error:Connection Error: Lost connection to SRM Server 192.168.1.118:8095The remote certificate is invalid according to
Relocate Virtual Machine Cannot Connect To Host
the validation procedure.Everything has been working fine for a couple of months now. At the recovery site, I can log into SRM with no problems. I have restarted all services on the both the protected SRM and vCenter server to no avail and not I'm sure where the problem even really lies - with SRM or with vCenter? I vmware cannot connect to host have looked through the logs and haven't seen anything regarding certificate or credential errors. Has anyone seen this before and know what could be causing it? Thanks in advance. 2640Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 9 replies 1. This article will focus on successfully changing the default VMware SSL certificates on vCenter 5 and vCenter Update Manager hosts with CA signed certificates using a Microsoft CA (it will also work with public and OpenSSL CAs, but I have not tested it yet). One of the things that makes it hard for people to get this right is that like with ESXi 5 there is no one document or source of truth that explains in sufficient detail what the requirements and supported configurations are or how to implement CA signed SSL certificates in vCenter Server. I'm hoping that the information in this article will help and encourage more people to change out the default certs (to improve security), and make the process far more reliable and easier to achieve with vCenter 5. Although not covered here, vCenter Heartbeat is becoming more critical as a component in VMware Infrastructures to provide high availability to vCenter. There is currently no supported way to change the SSL certificates that vCenter Heartbeat uses. There is an unsupported method that I will test and if successful will post once I've configured vCenter Heartbeat in my environment. VCenter 5 and vSphere Update Manager 5 (VUM) and configuring them to update the hosts as I was used to. http://www.happysysadm.com/2013/02/problem-with-ssl-in-vmware-vcenter.html But, actually, when I started configuring my update baselines, I discovered http://vmware369.rssing.com/chan-7575854/all_p76.html that the download of patches in VUM failed for apparently no reason. I was stuck for a moment on this problem because the settings I used for connection to the proxy appeared to work. To check this I used the 'Test-Connection' button in the Configuration tab cannot connect of VUM and always got the same positive result: The following URLs have been successfully accessed: http://www.vmware.com http://www.microsoft.com What was very confusing in analyzing this problem was the fact that inside the VUM log (named vmware-vum-server-log4cpp and located under C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs on the VUM server) there were plenty of unrelated errors. After a long digging, I cannot connect to traced it back to the following error, which was the first one in the logs: [2013-02-19 13:36:11:648 'httpDownload' 10140 ERROR] [httpDownload, 732] Error 12175 from WinHttpSendRequest for url https://www.vmware.com/PatchManagementSystem/patchmanagement which was followed by [2013-02-19 13:36:11:648 'httpDownload' 10140 INFO] [httpDownload, 926] Retrying https://www.vmware.com/PatchManagementSystem/patchmanagement with proxy off [2013-02-19 13:36:11:648 'httpDownload' 10140 INFO] [httpDownload, 556] Downloading https://www.vmware.com/PatchManagementSystem/patchmanagement [2013-02-19 13:36:13:898 'httpDownload' 10140 ERROR] [httpDownload, 732] Error 12007 from WinHttpSendRequest for url https://www.vmware.com/PatchManagementSystem/patchmanagement At this point it was clear to me that I was facing a proxy problem, so I went to talk to the network admins to see if there was some specific configuration in place at their company which could lead to this problem and bingo!, they said to me that they were using Zscaler, which, to my understanding, is an SSL inspection engine, whose role is to get the outgoing secured transaction (the one between your webclient and the proxy), analyze its content and only then separately setup another SSL session between the proxy and the destination website, which in our

In the meanwhile till Vmware addresses this, I am trying to find a way through the eventing framework for the generation of an appropriate event when I associate a Virtual Machine with a storage profile. I see a 'VmReconfiguredEvent" being fired when I associate a vm with a storage profile, but the information on the event isnt enough to clearly tell me the details of the operation. The VmReconfiguredEvent does get fired when one configures the VirtualMachine in anyway, so trying to find a way to distinguish this from an 'associate wi
