The following is the resolution I have tried: The computer and user account has been created and existed in a Windows 2003 domain Active Directory (AD) where a domain controller (DC) running Microsoft Windows 2003 the system cannot connect to a domain controller to service the authentication request Server opeating system. However, you may encounter the following error message when a domain user tries to autheticate and logon to the domain from a workstation which can be running on Windows XP (With or without SP2) operating system or any other OS: Windows cannot connect to the domain either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found. Please try again later. If this message continues to appear contact your System Administrator for assistance. The symptom or error may appear when a PC is replaced with another computer with the same computer name without first deleting the duplicate computer name from the domain Active Directory service before joining the new workstation to the domain with that duplicate name. The symptom may appear immediately or after a few successful log-ons. The cause of the error will probably due to security identifier (SID) issues. Another possible cause for the error is that the computer account for the workstation is accidentally deleted. The resolution and workaround to solve the above error in above condition is as below. Happy Tolkien Reading Day Windows cannot connect to the domain… Posted on March 23, 2009 by Luke Maciak tein.co/2906 As you may know, I'm a big fan of virtualization. At work, http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/2009/03/23/windows-cannot-connect-to-the-domain/ whenever I need to use Windows only applications, I fire up Virtual Box which is running an instance of Windows XP. A virtual machine like that covers pretty much https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27528893/Windows-cannot-connect-to-the-domain-either-because-the-domain-controller-is-down-or-otherwise-unavailable-or-because-your-computer-account-was-not-found.html all my needs. I also enjoy the fact that if that instance ever becomes infected with a virus, or somehow b0rks itself, I can always restore it to an cannot connect earlier snapshot. Or at least so I thought. It turns out that snapshots can sometimes be problematic, especially if your virtualized OS is tied into a Windows domain. I reverted snapshots few times before without any problems, but this time around I hit a snag. After I rolled the VM back, I found myself locked out of Windows. Every cannot connect to time I tried to log in, I was presented with this amusing little message: Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because domain the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found. Please try again later. If this message continues to appear, contact your network administrator for assistance. This message popped up for every single username within the domain - including the domain administrator account. I was able to log into the machine as a local user though. My first instinct was to troubleshoot networking but as it turned out, it was working just fine. Upon logging in locally, I was able to access the internet, as well as the network shares. I could also ping the domain controller without any problems. Some quick googling told me that this sometimes happens when you have two computers with the same name joined into the same domain. The DC gets confused and locks one or both of them out. I didn't have a new computer - but an e

The DC is a Windows Server 2003 SBS machine, and it's up and running, I even tried restarting the DC and the client machine and the issue still persists. The DHCP on the DC isn't configured and isn't running, so the "DHCP Server" is actually a Linksys router, that's what's handing out IP's. It's a small environment, only about 5-6 computers, so that's why they have been able to get away with not having the DC be the DHCP server, regardless everything has been working fine, up to now and it's only this one computer. Just for reference the computer name of the problem machine is "CARLOS" When I look at the server event viewer the following event is logged which I think is related to the issue: "The session setup from the computer CARLOS failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is CARLOS$. The following error occurred: Access is denied. " Then the following error is logged right after: "The kerberos client received a KRB_A
