AD worked on 1.7, but now I'm getting the error:'LDAP-module cannot connect to any servers'on 1.8.There's a new field that asks for the LDAP encoding. I've tried cp1252, cp1250, and utf-8 as suggested -
Ldap-module Cannot Connect To Any Servers: Server:
no luck. Some documentation says the error is usually a binding problem, but I'm able to bind with the account using ldp.exe.Any ideas on where to start? I can provide more specs as needed. The problem for me was the ldap moodle LDAP bind account was not in an OU it was in a CN (users). I created an OU and moved our users over to that folder and it was fine. You need to make the context for the location of the account is correct also. Hope this helps.Ed Average of ratings: - Permalink | Show parent | ReplyRe: LDAP-module cannot connect to any serversDennis FlynnThursday, 10 May 2007, 11:00 PMhmmm... I thought I successfully tried it using cn=users instead of ou=users, but maybe not. I was successfully in using the e-mail format instead: ldapuser@mydomain.notAverage of ratings: - Permalink | Show parent | Reply Re: LDAP-module cannot connect to any serversJD HallFriday, 11 May 2007, 5:58 AMLooks like it was a firewall problem.Moved the server from our DMZ to the LAN and things are talking now.I suspect I'll need a firewall rule to open port 389 from the moodle server to the ldap server, right? Grr, Have been struggling with our moodle server since about lunchtime today. Its been working for forever, authenticating users from our active directory using LDAP, the only time we've ever had a problem was with a little bit of an AD re-shuffle when some users ended up outside of the context, but hey we fixed that. Lunchtime (ish) http://www.edugeek.net/forums/virtual-learning-platforms/28646-moodle-ldap-what-nightmare.html today it stopped authenticating users, i get errors similar to LDAP-module cannot connect to any servers: Server: 'myserver.myad.local' Connection: 'Resource id #51' Bind result: '' We've worked through the LDAP settings, goign from 2 servers to one, from individual OU's in the context to the whole domain. I've now got it with the IP address for the LDAP server and a new user account and i still get the same type of error message. no more information. nothing is being logged in the moodle logs, the event log on the moodle server or on the domain controller it is pointing to. As far as we know nothing has changed on the servers or the moodle today until we started troubleshooting the issue. We are running v1.9.3 Oh, and i've ran softerra ldap browser from the moodle server which connects with the LDAP username and password no problem and shows me the tree. Any help or advice would be really appreciated as I'm getting a lot of grief with approx 4000 students and staff wanting to get on! I replied to Gerrad yesterday, but my email was rejected by the JISC list (?). I did check that cannot connect SELinux was disabled. I haven't looked yet to Steve's suggestions, but taking to the help desk yesterday, the Moodle site cannot connect to the ldap server, because IT has to configured something else (I am finding out what is that 'something else'). First find out the IP address for ldap2.dundee.ac.uk Try placing an entry in /etc/hosts like this IP_address_of_LDAP_server ldap2.dundee.ac.uk Also check your /etc/resolv.conf has some institutional nameservers entered maybe like this: search dundee.ac.uk nameserver 192.168.x.x nameserver 192.168.x.x Then you may need to restart networking What you had entered ldap://ldap2.dundee.ac.uk/O=DUNDEE?cn does not look correct. You should only have the server address the other stuff needs to go in Bind Settings probably something like this: Bind settings Hide passwords: yes DN: CN=User with bind permission,OU=dundee,DC=ac,DC=uk Plus the password for the bind user User lookup settings User Type: edirectory ? I don't know the directory contexts for your institution but your network techs will ....... Contexts: OU=Staff, OU=people,OU=dundee,DC=ac,DC=uk;OU=Students,OU=people,OU=dundee,DC=ac,DC=uk Search Sub-contexts: Yes User attribute: cn The Windows XP utility ldp (I think it's called) is really useful for testing all of these settings.
