The camera displays the error message "err99" which as most know is a catch-all error code for "something is wrong"!The error message is displayed between every 5 & 20 shutter actuations. In burst mode it appears almost always after every 5 shutter clicks. The error requires the battery to be removed to clear it but DOES NOT prevent the last image being written to the media card! The particular error with this body therefore appears to be the error message itself as its been operating (annoyingly) like this for over a year now without any other symptoms. As I have already moved onto other camera bodies its time to let go and say goodbye! Sharing the error before it go

Yes No Voted Undo Score 5 Cancel Comments: May be a bit late but I have just bought a 300d spares or repair so I could fix my own one.The https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/14217/How+can+I+fix+Error+99+on+my+Canon+EOS+Digital+Rebel one I bought for spares was doing the err 99 thing.I could hear that the shutter was not opening so took the lens off and took a look inside to discover that the soft shutter material was kinked in one corner.I then carefully using a cotton bud (Q-TIP) gave it a bit of a nudge in the corner and to my pleasure it slotted back in camera fixed.. Hope that has helped somebody. 11/06/2014 by steve My eos 300d, that I bought to fix, would go in to rapid fire mode until I took the battery off. I ended up opening the camera and removing the shutter curtains (I think they were jamming or failed in some form) now the camera works fine and takes a picture. The lack of shutter curtains doesn't bother me much as I only use the camera for long exposure astrophotography. Not bad for £20. 11/07/2014 by challenger3000 Thanks to the comments posted here, I found a dog hair from our bassett had managed to jam the shutter. Removed the dog hair, put the bassett down, problem solved!!!!

Briefly what happened:first symptoms of an error were when, on completely zooming in using my 18-55mm lens, the camera would not auto-focus, and spent a good few seconds going in and out of focus before giving up.then I started seeing flickering through the canon eos eyepiece.on changing lenses, the problem seemed to go away, until a few days later when, each time I tried to take an image, I got the error.through all this, there have been a number of times when pressing the shutter-release resulted in nothing happening. So, I've tried taking the lens off and cleaning the contacts, then replacing and trying to take a shot - still get canon eos 30d the error message.I've tried replacing the battery - error message.I've tried the shutter release with no lens attached - error message.I haven't tried another CF card yet - that's just occurred to me! Could this be the issue, or is my camera an ex-camera?Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks

It may help some of you isolate the problem before you post a comment/question.To isolate the cause of the issue, we suggest that you do the following:1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera. 5. Depress the shutter
