Is there any solution to canon eos 7d manual it other than sending it off for service for the next month? The camera store I bought it from will not exchange for a new body. After further investigation (i.e. sticking the battery in and taking it back out), there's "wet, oily" stuff all over the contacts. I don't know what it is, but needless to say I've taken the battery out of the camera until I can take it into the shop to have someone look at it.Does anyone know if the LP-E6 batteries leak? In one way good, but with a week in the Farnes coming up in under 2 weeks, I do not want to be feet away from a Puffin when it reoccurs. Anyone experienced this, know what the issue is? Could I have overheated the battery/other parts with 5 hours solid shooting? Help, LCE where I got it (still under guarentee) said they send it away and can take up to 3 weeks. ......HELP At Bempton Cliffs today, 5 hours and 500 shots in, my 7D stops functioning, no focus, no shutter and LCD showing error 40. Also, i could keep the 7D body until a later point in time when i have the spare cash to pay for the full repair.(its out of warranty, so waiting to fix it doesn't matter)so what would you do if you were in my shoes? obviously dont need people to decide for me, just like to hear peoples thoughts on the matter to gain some perspective. Thanks guys.Canon 5D2 | Canon 24-105L | 430ex IILOG IN TO REPLY sponsored links (this ad will go away when you log in as registered member) pepckatpepckatMember67 postsJoined Jun 2012Mission Hills, CaMore infoJul 19, 2012 17:26|#2Hi, I just had my 50D serviced that was giving me an "error 30" which is a shutter assembly replacement (original parts). I don't have a clue about an error 40 but you might want to try my repairman "Thien" from ebay. He has a perfect rating with very good feedback! I just got back my 50D with a brand new shutter assembly, clean

Expert: Richard replied4 years ago. Just to be sure, you have thoroughly cleaned the battery contacts and you are certain the batteries are fully charged. Ask Your Own Camera and Video Question Customer: replied4 years ago. Yes, cleaned the contacts, and tried 4 different charged batteries that work in my other 7D. Expert: Richard replied4 years ago. OK. This problem has been quite common with the 7D model. When it is not a matter of clean terminals or bad batteries it is being caused by a week circuit in the power control board of the camera. This board is what regulates power to the parts of the camera and when it does not do it right you get the error 40. The only fix for it is to have the board replaced either by a local shop or, I recommend having Canon do the job. There is a chance Canon will do it without cost but this would depend on how old the camera is.
