Cloud 3 Replies Latest reply on Nov 4, 2013 3:39 PM by gener7 What is 7za.exe? ChasLaird Nov 3, 2013 4:39 PM I have the latest versions Photoshop CC, Bridge CC, and the http://portableapps.com/node/7805 Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application installed on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer. My anti-virus/firewall program wants to quarantine a file named “7za.exe" that is in one of the Adobe folders. This file is located in Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Creative Cloud > Utils > Zip Can someone tell me what this executable does and if it is a legitimate part of the Adobe https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1327648 Creative Cloud installation? Re: What is 7za.exe? gener7 Nov 3, 2013 4:59 PM (in response to ChasLaird) 7za.exe is the command line version of 7-zip, see http://www.7-zip.org/It's in my CC zip folder as well. You may right-click on it and scan it with your AV if you wish.Gene Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: What is 7za.exe? ChasLaird Nov 4, 2013 2:56 PM (in response to gener7) Thanks for your reply. Since you also have this file, I will assume it is a legitimate part of the installation of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application. I guess my AV program “Webroot Secure Anywhere" is just reporting a false positive in quarantining the executable “7za.exe." I will restore this file from quarantine to its original location. Thanks again. Chas Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: What is 7za.exe? gener7 Nov 4, 2013 3:39 PM (in response to ChasLaird) You should also contact Webroot support and see what they have to say just to be sure. Send them a copy of it. If it's a false positive they should know, if not mayb

Forum: Open Discussion Creator: Nobody/Anonymous Created: 2005-04-06 Updated: 2012-12-08 Nobody/Anonymous - 2005-04-06 Hello I used to do daily backups of my projects with 7za.exe. Batch file is run from the root of E: drive, directories to compress are specified in command line list file, OS is Windows XP. After upgrading to 4.16 I get error "Access denied". I used File Monitor from Sysinternals to track what 7z is doing. The problem is that 7za.exe scans recursively not only directories from the list file, but ALL directories. 7za 4.16 returns Access denied when tries to open "System Volume Information" folder, while 7za exe error 7za 4.15 handles this error. So it's impossible to make backups from drive root folder with version 4.16. And maybe directory scanning algorithm can be optimized to look only into directories that are in the list file? It takes a lot of time to scan big drive with many folders. Artem. P.S.
