The users who http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/181219/error-in-command-line-when-executing-stsadm-exe voted to close gave this specific reason:"Questions on problems encountered using commercial 3rd-party software or plugins are off-topic as they can be more easily answered by the specific vendor's support team. The path is : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\#\BIN\ where "#" is the number of the wave of SharePoint. 15 = 2013, 14 = 2010, 12 = 2007. –Nullldata May 27 at 13:30 It is about a third party product, installation support should be handled through Mindjet. –Eric Alexander♦ May 27 at 13:33 add a comment| active oldest votes Browse other questions tagged stsadm or ask your own question. asked 4 months ago viewed 17 times Blog Stack Overflow Podcast #89 - The Decline of Stack Overflow Has Been Greatly… Related 0List exists error when using stsadm -o import command1STSAdm Access Denied and UAC0What this command “Stsadm” does?0Error when using stsadm.exe to deploy webpart2Move Config DB to new SQL server1stsadm deploy fails0How to Integrate STSADM com
and getting frustrated http://www.broculos.net/2013/08/stsadm-and-command-line-error.html because you are getting "Command line error"? Are you completely sure the command you typed is perfectly valid and going insane for why it is not being interpreted properly? Fear no more, because you are not command line alone. Fortunately, this problem and its solution was already discovered by several people. If you read SharePoint stsadm.exe and the infamous "Command line error" from Serge van den Oever, you will have all the information command line error you need. The problem is in the encoding of the text. It appears to be possible to get different encodings while you type your commands in the same command shell. Pretty strange... Anyway, the solution is to use a text editor, write your commands there and make sure the encoding is set to ANSI. You can then copy your commands to the command shell or save them as a batch file.
