Facing strange behaviour doing the following: Open solution in VS2013 -> kick off rebuild -> no errors. Create a small batch file: CALL "%VS120COMNTOOLS%vsvars32.bat" DEVENV "D:\Source\Solution.sln" /Rebuild "Debug|Any CPU" 1>NUL 2>&1 IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO Error IF http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28628275/devenv-command-line-switches-error ERRORLEVEL 0 GOTO Yeah :Error COLOR c Echo. Echo end %date% - %time% Echo Failed! PAUSE :Yeah Echo. PAUSE Run this batch file and the errorlevel is not zero Changed now inside the batch file the devenv action to the following: DEVENV "D:\Source\Solution.sln" /Clean "Debug|Any CPU" 1>NUL 2>&1 DEVENV "D:\Source\Solution.sln" /Build "Debug|Any CPU" 1>NUL 2>&1 Run this batch file and the errorlevel is zero The strange thing is that without output redirection I do also not get any errors while running the batch with the rebuild action active. Any suggestions why I do get a different behaviour? batch-file visual-studio-2013 devenv share|improve this question edited Feb 20 '15 at 12:49 asked Feb 20 '15 at 11:49 Dimi Toulakis 3,67121836 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote In the first case you are doing a Rebuild. In the second case you are doing a Clean and Build. Temporarily remove the 1>NUL 2>&1 and you should be able to see what the error is all about. You might simplify things a bit and save the results like this. Then you can view the log file before yo

Wed, 06/05/2013 - 04:49 We have recently come across an issue for which we need help with . We use intel C compiler and we have automated all our builds. automated scripts use the approach described here: http://software.intel.com/sites/products/documentation/doclib/stdxe/2013/composerxe/compiler/cpp-win/index.htm#GUID-8BC0A95C-99A5-4981-A02D-19CD6985E05B.htm This has devenv command line worked fine for last 4 years without any issue. Very recently we have started facing a problem which looks like a bug. The main issue is that when we follow this article and make a command line build the build completes but devenv.exe never exits. It appears that this bug is caused by a recent microsoft update. The same works fine if we set the project to use ms compiler in place of intel compiler. So it is difficult to prove if it is an intel or ms issue. We have reproduced the issue on two different machines (win7 x64, win8 x64) with a one line "hello world" project in VS2008. This used to work fine untill couple of weeks ago. Has any one else faced this issue ? Any tips on how to debug the issue will help R
