the remote server. For a regular FTP session, either disable the firewall or nntp connect error 10060 anti-virus software or configure them to allow CuteFTP to establish an FTP session over ports 20 and 21. Consult the pop3 connect error 10060 documentation or help file for your specific firewall or antivirus software product for instructions. Usually the manufacturer of the device or software will also have specific instructions available on their Web site. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/811087 If you continue to receive the same error after insuring ports 20 and 21 are open, contact the administrator of the site you are trying to connect to. For more error code information, refer to Knowledge Base article 10140 at http://kb.globalscape.com. WSAETIMEDOUT (10060) 10060 is a connection-timeout error that usually appears when the client does not receive a response from the server for a specific command. http://help.globalscape.com/help/cuteftp8/Socket_errors_10060_10061_10064_10065.htm This error often occurs when you try to connect in PASV mode to a server that prefers PORT for data connections. If you see an error log similar to the one below, in the Site Properties of the problem site, click the Type tab, then change the Data Connection Type to Use PORT. COMMAND:> PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (xxx,xx,xxx,xx,x,xxx). COMMAND:> LIST STATUS:> Connecting ftp data socket xxx.xx.xxx.xx:xxxx... ERROR:> Can't connect to remote server. Socket error = #10060. ERROR:> Failed to establish data socket. If you still receive a 10060 error, the server may be trying to send a listing for a very large directory (with many thousands of files) causing the client to time-out while waiting. Try increasing the time-out value in the Global Options dialog box (Tools > Global Options > Transfer > Reconnect and resume in [ n ] seconds if nothing received ) to a higher value, such as 45 or 60 seconds. The connection fails due to an error or timeout. Verify that the destination IP address is correct. Increase the connection timeout threshold under Global Settings > Connection. Switch to the opposite data connection type (PASV or PORT)
Troubleshooting Winsock 10060 Errors The information in this article applies to: DameWare Mini Remote Control Winsock Connect Error System Error: 10060 Connection timed out. A connection attempt http://support.dameware.com/kb/article.aspx?ID=300060 failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. Please keep in mind that Winsock Errors are Microsoft http://www.icechat.net/forums/index.php?topic=477.0 Windows Sockets (TCP) errors, not DameWare error, and typically when a Winsock 10060 error is reported it's typically either due to an improperly configured Firewall (hardware or software), a Names Resolution issue, or even connect error improper routing within your network implementation (especially when VPNs or multiple NICs are involved). These configuration issues then cause the TCP Socket to timeout, which then causes the Winsock 10060 error to occur. Unfortunately, there are no settings within our software that would either cause, or prevent a Winsock 10060 error (or any other Winsock error) from occuring. However, here are some things you can try: First make sure connect error 10060 that all routers & firewalls between the Local & Remote Machines, and any firewall software on the remote machine itself (i.e. Windows Firewall for SP2 or Vista, etc..) are properly configured to allow the necessary traffic to pass through. Our software is compatible with any firewall (hardware or software), but you must properly configure the firewall to allow the necessary traffic to pass through. Otherwise the connection will timeout with a Winsock 10060 error. Please see the following knowledgebase article for more information: Using DameWare Development Products in Conjunction with XP Service Pack 2 Also, if you are currently using version 6.x of the software, then after you install v6.x of the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, once the Client Agent starts up it should automatically create a port exception in the Windows Firewall (under Vista or XP) for the specified TCP port used for communication (default is TCP 6129). But make note this does not open the ports required to remotely install, remove, start, or stop the MRC Client Agent Service, only the port specified to use for communication. Additionally, when using the MRC software over VPN connections to connect to these remote machines, you also need to keep in mi

I get the same message all the time. Did I break my precious IceChat 5.50 Build 010905?[09:06] * Attempting to connect to irc.quakenet.org on port 6667 [09:06] * Socket Error: 10060 : The attempt to connect timed out [09:06] * Connection closed from irc.quakenet.org I am sure you know, but I went to look to see what this Window Socket Error Code meant:WSAETIMEDOUT10060 Connection timed out. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or the established connection failed because the connected host has failed to respond. Thanks for the coolest IRC program!GregP.S. I deleted channel.ini but that didn't change anything. Quakenet has a lot of servers, you can get a list off of their website of specific ones.10060 is not a problem with IceChat, its just that the servers are not responding. This happens at times with regular DNS pool server addresses that use irc.networkname.com, its usually better to use a specific server. Also, try using a different port number, say like 7000. At times this helps as well.Channel.ini has nothing to do with this, that file is used to store window locations, sizes of IceChat, so that when you restart IceChat, everything is resized the way you had it previously
